I found this product to be a good all round face scrub, it’s gently on the skin and leaves it feeling fresh and clean. It’s lovely and creamy, for the price you can’t go wrong, definitely recommend.

Tips: Perfect for use in the shower
At first I was apprehensive about using this product as I have read so many times that "apricot scrub is way too harsh for your face and it can cause microtears!" This refers to the walnut shell in the product that acts as an exfoliant. It has sharp and jagged edges that can scratch your skin, potentially allowing bacteria to enter and cause infections.
The product I am reviewing does contain walnut shell powder, however, I tested it on the back of my hand before putting it on my face, and it seemed gentle enough.
The first time I used it as a mask and followed the instructions. It has a creamy texture and is easy to spread on the skin. It has a pleasant "oaty" fragrance but it smells very artificial and a bit like body lotion to me. The scrub particles are fine and there are enough of them to give a feeling of thorough exfoliation. The mask dried out slightly during the wait time but it did not harden or crack like clay masks do. Because it did dry out though, I had to apply water before massaging like the instructions dictate. Washing it off was fairly easy, the product turns into a creamy lotion texture. My skin felt soft and smooth afterwards.
The second time I used it was in the shower, as a scrub. It was easy to massage into my skin and rinsed off easily too. This scrub is quite gentle and I don't think you could easily overdo it like you can with many harsher scrubs (e.g. the apricot one from St. Ives). My skin felt refreshed and soft afterwards.
I have since used the product a few times both as a mask and as a scrub, however, I don't notice much of a difference, if at all, between the two methods. Both give me smoother, cleaner-feeling skin and overall the product is pleasant to use.
Tips: If using it as a mask, apply water to make it easier to massage after it has dried.
Wasn't sure how I'd feel about this product but after trying on the back of my hand to see how I'd go with it I was pleasantly surprised. 1. No skin reactions and 2. It did make my hand feel soft and smooth.
So firstly I tried as a cleanser, after wetting face as per instructions I found I needed only a small amount of product to cover and massage over my face. Nice and creamy with a gentle grainy texture. It spread over my face easily and didn't feel rough at all, lathered up nicely and rinsed of easily with warm water leaving my face feeling refreshed and feeling smooth afterwards.
Same method when using as a mask, I wet my face then I massaged product (slightly more than when I used as a scrub) over my face and left for 5 minutes. Dried out a bit so had to wet my fingers when it came time to massage and rinse off, still left my face feeling cleansed and smooth afterwards.
Loved the tube as a great size for my hand and the product came out easily. The fragrance was pleasant with an oaty scent, and just a grainy texture which felt good on the skin and wasn't to harsh. Is great value as only need a small amount each time.
Tips: If using as a mask, after leaving on for 5-7 minutes moisten fingers to massage before rinsing.
Only need a small amount.
I received the scrub on 10 March and have used it every day since then. I really liked the product and will continue to use it and buy more. On the pack it says it is a gentle exfoliant and that is correct , I never had any issues but found my skin was softer and had a cleaner feel. I found it easy to remove with warm water whether using as a scrub or mask .It is fairly thin but there was just enough graininess to the product to achieve the results. Love the perfume , it is very subtle and mellow . Good size attractive pack easy to squeeze the product from the tube and it sits up easily on the lid.
Tips: I felt there could have been a little more direction as to the amount to use especially if wanting to leave on as a mask
I have to start by saying I didn't have high hopes for this product as I usually prefer a strong scrub like the Exfoliating scrub by Clinique. I also like fine microbeads and didn't think this gentle scrub would do the trick. I was pleasantly surprised. First tried it on my hand and liked the thickish consistency as well as the size of the beads which were finer than I anticipated. The product has a nice clean oaty smell - definite plus. Price is very good, so affordable. Packaging practical and works well in the shower. My skin felt clean after using it to exfoliate - was not irritated and I definitely noticed a more glowing complexion. Personally I don't like using masks much, and cannot say I felt using it as a mask did much for my skin. All and all I think it is a good product to complement cleansing and I love the shiny, clean face I had after using the product. Will recommend and will be happy to buy again.
Tips: Use after your cleanser to have super clean skin and a glowing complexion
St Ives Oatmeal scrub & mask is a lovely creamy natural product. Its got only natural exfoliators so no nasty plastic in it to pollute our waters. This scrub promises to be very gentle and leaving skin soft which it certainly does, it's very creamy and smells divine - primarily of honey. This is hypoallergenic & dermatologist tested which is important for me as I have extremely sensitive skin and it didn't irritate me at all which is so good as lots of 'natural' products do end up irritating me for some reason.
I love that the scrub pieces are natural, as I try to avoid buying scrubs with plastic in them. Works well as a scrub and good as a mask. I scrubbed in the shower after leaving it on for 5 or so minutes while washing my hair which worked well. I liked that it is multi tasking and great in the shower to get a few things done at once. Nice soft fragrance. I would purchase this again.
Tips: Using as a mask in the shower, then scrubbing off after a few minutes is great. Saves time and I feel its a nice treat in the shower!
This product can be used as a mask or scrub. I've used it as both and was happy with the outcome. After using it as a scrub, I find my skin appears calmer and not so patchy, and after the mask it is clear, calm and soft.
I like that it is a double and I can choose whether to use it quickly or take my time and use it as a mask. The little scrubby bits are quite small so it doesn't feel like sandpaper. The cleanser is nice and creamy too.
Tips: Try to keep it away from your hairline. I find the little scrubby bits get stuck in my hair and they can be a nuisance to get out
i find this mask is very great ,i applied it as a mask and rub a little bit when i washed it off ,every time after use i found that my skin got brighten and softer ,pores are smaller and acnes were calmed down ,its a good mask for sensitive oily skin .
Very surprised with this little product. Comes in a easy to use in shower tube, which is also great for traveling. I found it to be very gentle and even after a two day car trip with the aircon it replenished my skin immediately after use.
The first time I used it as a mask and the instructions were easy to follow. it easily rinsed of and was not abrasive at all. There is a little oatmeal fragrance but nothing overwhelming
Also love the no nasties ingredients which I prefer due to my psoriasis Sometimes abrasive scrubs make my arms flare even if I use it in my face
Tips: Just use sparingly and store cap facing up otherwise it will gather water in the cap
