As much as I love the packaging and the texture of this product (it's like rubbing clouds into your face, like no other product I've tried before), it just didn't work for me, as the weeks I trialed it progressed the skin on my face worsened and A LOT of people noticed it too. I'm not a huge fan of the smell of tea tree oil, but the smell left on my face after using the face wash was minimal.

Tips: Unfortunately this range of products as a whole, didn't work for me. It seemed to enrage my skins blemishes further, and within one week of stopping use of the products my skin was a lot clearer than when I was using it - although still blemished :(
When I started using this, my skin wasn't that bad, like there were a few pimples here and there and when I used that I found that when I put it on my skin, a little didn't go a long way, and over the course of about a month my skin just started getting redder and blotcher, It was this prouduct causing this because as soon as it ran out I didn't get anymore and it the excess redness cleared up straitght away. :-) x
I was really excited about trying this product as tea tree is something that I've heard lots about when it comes to acne, but never been convinced enough to try myself. Unfortunately I was disappointed.
I liked how the pump 'foamed' the product, but was frustrated that one pump of the nozzle didn't seem to provide enough to get decent coverage, two pumps of the nozzle were required.
I found the tea tree scent quite strong and it wasn't a smell I particularly enjoyed.
Those were small niggles that I would have been able to get over if the product had provided results in regards to my complexion. But, I found that the face wash left my skin feeling incredibly tight (this was relieved when following the face wash with Thursday Plantation Tea Tree & Witch Hazel Toner) and my acne is actually worse than it was prior to using this product.
I won't be continuing with Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Face Wash for Acne.
I have acne prone skin and love my jar of pure tea tree oil so I though I'd give this face wash a go. You need a couple of pumps to get a good amount of foam. It has a slight tea tree smell which you would expect and a tingly feeling on your skin which is fine. I need a face wash that removes my makeup but this one didn't even after a few washes, it didn't remove my eye makeup at all. As it didn't remove all my makeup, I was still getting breakouts. This face wash may be good for people who don't wear makeup, I'm not sure. I wouldn't buy this particular product but I love other products in the range.
About Me
Let me start off by sharing a bit about my skin. I have very oily and acne prone skin. I've had acne for more than 10 years and have been on every drug, cream and face wash you can imagine. Things tend to work for me for around a month and then the acne returns. I believe my acne is hormonal and before using this product it was moderate in severity.
Results
I've been using this product for 3 weeks so far and I haven't seen any reduction in my acne, in fact, I think it's gotten worse as I now have small spots on my forehead and chin whereas it used to only be on my neck and jawline. I would say my acne is now severe. On the plus side, I have noticed my skin has become softer and as a result my foundation has gone on smoother.
Would I recommend it?
I would probably recommend this product to use as a cleanser for normal/oily skin as it feels quite nice and does do a good job cleaning the skin. Using the cleanser alone, and not with the other products in the 3 part treatment program, I have noticed that my skin is less oily.
Nuts & Bolts
Consistency- This cleanser comes out as a foam but it's quite substantial.
Application- It's easy to apply, just massage onto wet skin.
Coverage-I usually use two pumps for my whole face and neck.
Longevity- Based on how much I've used so far I would estimate this product would last over 2 months.
Packaging- The packaging is good, it doesn't seem to leak when traveling.
Tips: Don't cleanse just before going out as it made my skin quite red and my acne looked 100x worse!
Tea tree oil is supposed to work wonders on the face. I used this cleanser for a good month. And not seeing dramatic results I suddenly stopped. Finding the bottle several months later, I decided to test it out again. It took three weeks for my face to finally reduce redness and shrink the size of blemishes and acne scars and for the next three weeks after that I had gained faith in the product. However, being a natural cleanser, my oily skin got to used to it and it basically stopped working, neither managing breakouts nor helping remove current zits. On top of that, the cleanser was extremely drying, even to my oily skin and without using a moisturizer, my face would peel and look unhealthy.
Despite the great natural ingredients, this product was not designed for long-term use and isn't one of the best cleansers out there.
Tea tree is great but I wouldn’t recommend this product for the young teens faces. It’s strong and can dry their skin out. There are a lot more better products on the story or even make your own up so you can adjust it to skin type. Love tea tree products but when the teens skin goes dry from the product the skin will naturally over compensate producing oil. Maybe if use was limited. Good product just not great.
I wanted so bad for this cleanser to work for me because it has tea tree oil. I've used a whole bottle and it doesn't seem to make any difference on my acne-prone skin. My pores don't seem any different and my skin doesn't less red. It kind of stings a bit when I used it and leaves a strong smell afterwards. It might be because of my sensitive skin or maybe its my oiliness? Either way it doesn't work and I won't be repurchasing it again.
I'm not normally one for tea tree but my partner bought this and uses it daily so I thought I would give it a whirl myself. I like the smell and I like the clean fresh feeling I feel after using it but it hasnt helped me for any acne issues i've still had breakouts while using it. I still use it daily in the shower though its there so why not :)
I have had acne for the last 20 or so years, and I'm now in my forties and still struggling with it. I was very excited to be chosen for the acne trial to see if this could be the product range for me. Sadly after using it for 2 weeks, my skin had broken out so badly, the worst it has been in years, that I stopped using the products. It irritated my skin so much that I am still breaking out. However I will review how I found the products.
I found that the Face wash was easy to use, with the pump to dispense the product, you needed several pumps to get enough to cover your face. It wasn't strong enough to remove a full face of makeup, so I needed to remove my makeup first with another product. It had a very strong smell, obviously the Tea tree oil, which although not unpleasant, when you mix it with the whole , cleanse , tone and moisturise trio, made the smell quite overwhelming, and made me feel a bit queasy. After a few days of using it , my skin felt really quite dry, you know that taut feeling you get when a cleanser is a bit strong. Overall I think it was aggravating my oily skin by being so harsh. Maybe it may be suitable for young teenage skin, with acne, but it was a disaster for my mature acne prone skin.
Tips: Use a precleanser to remove any makeup beforehand and follow the cleanser with a good moisturiser to help avoid the taut, dry feeling.
