This is one of those products that I can remember my mum always having around and still do now, I've always used this over rashes and burns and it works a treat. It leaves a little bit of a greasy residue, but it is to be expected. I'm not sure how to describe the smell, it's just one of those smells that can just be explained as 'ungvita', it's a little strong but I've never found it to be obtrusive.

This product is a pretrolium jelly type product. This cream is great for repairing and soothing dry and cracked skin or chaffed skin. It's especially great for treating eczema. It gentle and doesn't irritate your skin.
It has the texture of a really thick balm. Almost like pawpaw cream bit thicker. It's quite easy to smooth over your skin. However I find that it takes a while to absorb and soak into your skin. I usually put this on overnight, and if you're using it in your face you can cleanse your face after a couple of hours to remove the oily residue.
The packaging is a tube which is squeezy, a bit like a tooth paste tube. You can buy this from most pharmacies.
Overall this is a great product to treat super dry skin, especially eczema. However, it does leave a sticky feeling on your skin, so I think I will try to find an alternative (I've heard trilogy everything balm is great).
I have used this for years and I think every new mother should have some , especially good for nappy rash . The smell may not be for everyone but use a little less and it may not be so over powering
Tips: It can be a little greasy but that's why it is good for protection , just use a bit less and let it dry before putting on clothes
Great for cuts scraps and dry feet. Hate this smell of this every strong and not nice!.But as a ointment, super powerful and works a treat
I am very hesitant in trying new products on my 2 year old daughters sensitive skin. For a long time we had been using a similar product to Ungvita that was much more expensive. One day I decided to bite the bullet and give it a go! Thank goodness I did. Not only was it more affordable than the other leading brand product I had been using but the results worked much faster! Our daughter suffers severely from awful nappy rash regularly. We have to be very careful about what products go onto her skin. The first time we purchased Ungvita her skin was almost red raw, that night after her bath we applied the ointment before bed and in the morning.... Nothing, all of the redness was gone! It was amazing. Never had any product prior to this worked so well and so quickly. The only thing that had me a little concerned was when I first opened the tube - the smell - I thought we had bought an "off" or "bad batch" however its just the way the product is. Its a very odd, unpleasant smell, in my opinion anyway. Every Mother of a small child or infant should give this fantastic product a go. Not only is it incredibly affordable, its available Everywhere! We buy ours from almost any super market, the only one we have found that does not have it is Countdown. And did I mention it works wonders?! Love Ungvita and will never go a day without it ever again xx
Tips: Available at almost every super market from $7-11. *Except Countdown.
This is another one of those staple products in our household. We first discovered Ungvita when my midwife recommended it for nappy rash, which cleared it up in no time.
Since then we use this for pretty much everything - cuts, grazes, eczema, nappy rash, chapped lips....the list is endless.
The biggest drawback of the ointment is that it has a really pungent smell - it's not offensive, but it is really strong. Once you get past that though, it's absolutely fine. It has an unusual sort of thick, jelly like consistency which spreads really easily as it warms on the skin.
Tips: Keep a tube in the glove box, it's amazing how many times we use it when we are out and about.
I first discovered this 22 years ago when I had my first child, he was a premy and was prone to nappy rash, since then I have always had it in my first aid kit, as I use it on cuts grazes on my 9yr old, the smell is quite over powering but if you can get past that its fantastic
A very oily ointment that kinda smells like fish but is most effective on nappy rash, sunburn and inflamed skin conditions. It was my sole first aid tube that I carried around with me when my children were very young. Safe to use on their faces without the fear of them ingesting and causing unnesseceary problems. Doesn't absorb too well into the skin at first but it does keep the treated area moist and adds as a barrier as well. Ungvita has been around for many years and I know that other creams have come on the market and are considered better but none quite like this one with its good quality of natural Vitamin A. I always felt I got my money's worth from it.
Tips: If your putting together a gift basket for a new mother, add this. I guarantee she would definitely thank you for your thoughtfulness.
Ok, tried to put my 2 fav uses for it in the title. 1. I'm a fair redhead AND I'm a farmer. Despite my best intentions, I tend to get badly sunburnt from time to time. This stuff is MAGIC! Ive had sunburn that is bad enough to be blistering, smother ugvita on it, wake up in the morning and the sunburn is GONE. Seriously, magic cure. 2. Its the best face treatment when you need moisture, especially if you use it after a shower and before bed. You'll wake up with baby fresh skin in the morning :) Sadly, it pongs a bit of fish so not the sort of thing you want to wear out and about, but I'll suffer through the slightly unpleasant smell for the results. Other tips, it a great lip balm. First aid wise, apply to hard scabs to help soften them to get them off.
Tips: Mix with some olive oil and put through your hair as a leave in overnight treatment. Or just apply straight to damaged hair as an overnight remedy.
Well, this product was a bit eh, but that's me. I used it in hope that it would help stop my eczema and cracked skin, it did that, but not to the point where I was impressed and where I would use it again.
I found that this ointment was very very very oily and hard to absorb, which was disappointing. :'( It left my skin more itchy than if I didn't use it at all.
Would I recommend it to a friend, well, I guess I would, just to say to them to give it a go and see if its for them, but I myself wouldn't use it again unless I had to. the price was reasonable, not expensive, which was cool. :D
Tips: Try it out, and then see if its for you, if so, get it again and again, if not, then try something else. :) all the best either way. :)
