I love the sunscreen for kids more than the adult one. The ingredients are much cleaner. The texture is very lively and creamy. It absorbs fast and is easy to apply so kids don't mid it. It keeps their skin hydrated and protected from the sun. Love it

My 1 year old has quite bad eczema and this sunscreen didn't irritate her skin at all, it actually felt very moisturizing and also smells great. The only downside for me is that it's a bit pricy for the size and we go through it pretty quickly, they say that you don't need to use much and that a little goes a long way but I guess I'm just accustomed to slathering sunscreen on and definitely don't want to take any risks with the little ones delicate skin!
This sunscreen has been great for my little one and we have used it from when she was six months old. She has sensitive skin and this sunscreen has not irritated her skin at all and she has never burned. I love that it is SPF50 and that it is made in NZ. It is a waterless gel product (like a thick paste) and isn't watered down, greasy, or full of chemicals. You only need a small amount so a little goes a long way and applies easily, and bonus it that it has a lovely coconut scent. Only downside is it has stained her some of her white clothes.
I am very cautious about what I put on my daughters skin. I did a lot of research before I purchased this as I wanted something decent and not full of chemicals. I love that it's cruelty free and made in NZ.
It is definitely more on the pricey side, I paid $45.99 for it from the chemist. It comes in a 100ml squeezy tube and has colourful pictures which make the packaging quite unique and cool. There are 3 different ones you can get, I got River Rascal.
It is a thick honey coloured gel and it says to only use a pea size amount which takes a bit of getting used to after slapping on the usual thick, white sunscreen.
First off this smells amazing....the most gorgeous coconut scent! One of the ingredients in it is coconut oil. I did do a small patch test first and thankfully my girl got no reaction at all.
I take a small amount and apply to my daughters face, arms and legs. It spreads well, a little definitely goes a long way. It doesn't sting her eyes at all or feel sticky on her skin.
It is SPF 50 so I feel confident she is well protected when out in the sun. She has never got burnt and it is gentle but effective on her skin. I think this is a brilliant sunscreen and worth the money and I will be purchasing again.
I decided to switch to this sun screen for myself and family after doing some research and seeing that my usual sunscreen had failed in the consumer Nz SPF tests. This sunscreen performed so well and was proven to offer really high SPF protection. My daughter is very fair and has a lot of freckles on her face so SPF protection is a must. I love this sunscreen! It not your typical sunscreen texture, it is like nothing I’ve used before. It’s like a non sticky colourless gel and makes your skin feel so soft. It has such a nice smell and is also infused with coconut oil. This is going to be my new favourite product for summer, I just wish it came in a larger size
This is seriously the best suncream for to use on your kids. It doesn’t take alot and you don’t have to wait for long before heading out into the sunshine. Yea it’s a little greasy but that’s because it’s effective and a little goes a long way. It doesn’t stain your clothes and you can be assured your kids are safe.
Tips: Get a few and stash them in your car, handbag and buggy.
My daughter has sensitive skin, and lately have found that most sunscreens make her flare up. After looking up some lesser known brands, I found this at our local chemist. We were lucky enough to be able to do a patch test from a sample before buying so we didn’t have to pay $45 for something that might make her react. It works wonders! A little definitely goes a long way, but I feel like she is more than protected from the sun. I love the coconut smell which is a bonus.
This was the third Skinnies sunscreen I'd tried and it did not disappoint.
I love the packaging - it's bring and colorful and it's fun. I received so many compliments about how cool it looked and people were really intrigued that it was sunscreen and asked me lots of questions about skinnies etc. Who knew it would be such a talking point!
The sunscreen itself is a thick clear gel with a yellow tinge. It also has a faint coconut scent which I really love.
The sunscreen rubs in well, absorbs fast and leaves your skin feeling moisturised. I quite enjoyed using it as my everyday sunscreen on my face as it doesn't feel as thick or look as shiny as other sunscreens.
Overall it's one of my favourites. Being vegan, reef safe and recyclable are all added bonuses! Highly recommended!
I’ve been using Skinnies Kids on my toddler for couple of years now. Though it’s probably unnecessary on packaging, I’ve been grabbing the Beach Boy, which is the green tube.
It has a subtle scent of coconut. The consistency is a thick balm like texture and looks kind of like honey in colour, but it’s so quick and easy to apply on my wriggly toddler. I don’t waste any time trying to rub it into his skin. A pea size is enough to cover the face, then a pea size for each body part that’s not covered.
I’ve used it on my son when he had eczema and found that it was very gentle on his skin. Also, it kept his skin moisturised. It kept his skin well protected and whenever he went into water, it was quick and easy to reapply afterwards.
Tips: Reapply after going into water and every 4 hours.
Skinnies is a def fave in this household. I’ve used most of the sunscreens myself and on my kids and the kids one is a winner here. Even on my sensitive allergy skin, my sons eczema and the normals in this fam.
We have the river rascal one and I love that it is an spf 50 and not just a 30! The kids used this for summer and even me to this day if I’m racing out the door as we keep it on our kitchen bench for quick application so we don’t forget.
It’s been great for not staining clothes which is amazing as so many sunscreens stain.. I don’t know if it’s the fact it’s a gel.. or maybe it’s just you don’t use a lot or that it’s easily absorbed.. not too sure but either way it doesn’t end up all over the clothes as it’s not runny.
As mentioned it’s a gel this ones a kind of light yellow gel - although I would say thicker than gel but smoother than a paste it’s hard to describe - it’s almost like a Vick’s Vapor rub consistency but in a tube. It’s handy as it doesn’t heat up in the car or bag and run or squirt out everywhere when you go to apply.
You don’t use a lot their whole idea is that you use a pea sized amount for your face and I agree with that. You can look at their Instagram for videos of coverage to see how well it covers too. But as it’s a gel it spreads quite fast and covers well so you are good to go pretty quickly no waiting around 20mins before exposure to sun etc.
It smells like coconut!!! It’s delicious I always get comments on how good I smell when wearing this and it’s only a sunscreen. The kids love the smell too and it doesn’t get in their eyes as it’s only applied where you rub it in as it’s not runny at all.
It’s been great for all the skin types in our family and is safe on 3mth olds onwards which has been amazing for the baby in the family too. They do recommend you do a test patch though which all sunscreens should do and so many don’t!! So that I love also.. I generally do a test on most things as I have been hospitalised by a sunscreen (pretty pathetic I know) but saves you a lot of pain. I’m always afraid to try and use sunscreens but have had luck with the whole skinnies range so far and we’ve tried a few.
Great size - it’s a small tube 100ml BUT it’s super concentrated as you don’t use a lot so 100ml lasted us summer and that was 2-3 kids using it often. They often have a bundle deal on their website or farmers sometimes chips in with about 15% off is probably the best I’ve seen on it so far but it’s been worth it for us.
It’s pretty perfect - easy to use, good coverage, smells great, high protection, water proof, long lasting and some super cute packaging to boot.
Tips: Always do a test patch on any sunscreen
