I was super excited to try these lipsticks so I purchased one of the sheen lipsticks (not usually my thing I'm more of a matte girl but thought I'd give it a go because the colour was stunning) in the colour 'Baby Doll' - it is the most GORGEOUS baby/nude pink and was so amped for it to arrive in the mail.
The packaging- Very cute, small and sophisticated it looks very simple and tidy.
The colour- Stunning
The outcome: The lipstick went on nice and smoothly as it was a sheen finish rather than a matte and I found it looked a little bit strange. Which was weird because I am quite fair and I generally suit most shades of lipsticks from pastel/pales to very dark colours. So I decided to blot it off a little and this was great it looked really nice ! But the staying power was just crap to be completely honest, if I was to wear it all day I would have to re apply SEVERAL times rather than just a few touch ups here and there and I'm just not committed to this lippy enough to do that. So over all it was okay but the lasting power wasn't great.
Would love this so much more if it lasted longer on my lips !
I decided to buy two of these lipsticks after hearing so many great things about them and the brand in general.
The colour range is pretty good and extensive, the only colour I think they are missing is a lighter, more pinky nude colour as opposed to the darker brown based ones they offer. The lipsticks come in two finishs; Sheen and Matte which are basically self explanatory and both claim to be highly pigmented, conditioning and comfortable to wear.
I picked up two, one Sheen in the colour Baby Doll (a very light 'baby doll' pink) and one Matte in the colour Vamp (a perfect brick red vampy autumn/winter colour). When they arrived I was very excited as the colours looked great in the tubes and the packaging is super cool, its like a matte black and kind of oblong shape not round. My description of the packaging isn't doing any justice but trust me it looks super cool in my collection!
Vamp was quite hard to apply and I found it VERY drying, probably one of the most drying matte's I've tried. Definitely recommend a lip balm before this one! Once on, the colour payoff was amazing, so pigmented and such a great colour - looked stunning on! Lasts a fair amount of time too being a matte. Vamp has a sort of almost plasticky smell to it and a mild taste however its not unbearable.
Baby Doll is a sheen formula and I thought after Vamp that this would be the perfect lipstick. The colour payoff of the matte but without the drying effect - yay! I was so very wrong :( Baby Doll applies smoothly, being a sheen, however it looks absolutely terrible on the lips. It is opaque in parts and sheer in other parts so gives this disgusting clumpy patchy effect that is unwearable. I have tried this lipstick on a few times before writing this review as I've tried to make it work but I just can't. And yes my lips are exfoliated! Its probably the worst lipstick I own which is gutting as I wanted to love it! Total waste of money, do not recommend this colour. One bonus is that, unlike the matte, it has no smell or taste.
Overall I am pretty disappointed with these lipsticks. The packaging is cool and 'sleek' (ha!), the lipsticks look great in the tube but for the price I'd rather go for Revlon or spend a little bit more and get Mac. I wont be purchasing anymore of these and I don't think I'll ever be able to use Baby Doll however will continue to use Vamp because apart from the extreme drying effect, its actually quite nice!
Tips: Always exfoliate lips before applying lipstick!
Apply a lip balm before applying matte lipsticks to minimize dryness
