This palette holds a very special place in my makeup collection, as a dear friend gifted it to me AND it was the very first palette I ever owned! I have no idea how I lived my life purely using single eyeshadows? I guess the same way that I used to live without primer - eek!
The packaging is a stunning, sturdy gold case with a gigantic mirror so is perfect for travel. The double ended brush it comes with is surprisingly good, so again, great for travel as you can just use the brush it comes with (which is almost never the case!).
The shadows themselves are gorgeous! Amazing colour selection and every single colour has crazy pigmentation going on. A couple of the shades are a bit powdery, but that's quite common these days with uber pigmented shadows.
I do wish there was a neutral, all over base colour in the palette, as I have to take that separately when travelling, but other than that I love it! If you can still get your hands on it then I would highly recommend to anyone that's after a good quality, neutral, with a pop of colour palette :)
I was lucky enough to win this at the end of last year - and I can't rave enough about it. For one the packaging is cool! But it's not all about packaging, what about the product? The eyeshadow glides on seamlessly - and the pigment is amazing! You almost have to be careful not to put too much on initially if you're like me and prefer a subtle look. The colours are fabulous and versatile. But what blows my mind the most is the brush it comes with. I love the big end for easily sweeping lots of base along my lids and the little brush at the other end is perfect for using another colour to highlight other parts of my eyes. I haven't attempted a wet look - I have nowhere to go which requires my eyes to go POW and I don't fancy getting 'are you crazy? You do realise it's 9.30AM?' looks at playgroup! But if the dry look is anything to judge by the wet look would be sensational. This was my first experience with Smashbox and I'm now dead keen to try other products. Most definitely recommend and for the amount of shadows you get I feel it's a bargain for the price.
