Maybe I am being an old schooler or just revealing myself to be one of those annoying persons who never read instructions and just dives head first into things, but I do prefer having my cleanser and toner separate, for me a toner is a balancing agent for my combination skin to ensure that my pores are tightened, settling dry areas and absorbing excessive oils.
By the packaging this toner reads as a gentle remineralising toner, so my thoughts were to use as a toner as it doesn't scream "hey I am a cleanser toner" so after washing my face and drying it I popped on this toner onto a cotton wool pad then patted over my skin like I do every day with my regular toner. However I did notice that the texture of it was rather thick and a very off putting beige brown colour. Having a more gel consistency which held it's own form on the pad should of tipped me off that this wasn't a normal toner, but nevertheless onto the skin it went. Leaving a filmy layer over my skin that did absorb a bit.
A few hours later my skin felt really itchy and I was desperate to get my makeup off which was breaking down with oil outbreaks. Finally getting it all off and cleansed my face didn't look red but the itchy feeling was still there. Recounting all products used that day I realised that the only new thing was the toner. This is where I read the instructions. Mix a few drops of the gel with water in your hands to create a foam, smooth over your face and rinse. A cleanser that tones and replenishes the skin. Which really annoyed me, of course it made my skin itch I was walking around all day with a gel cleanser dried on my skin. It really put me off the product and felt a little angry at the product being marketed as a toner when it was in fact a cleanser with toning abilities.
So this says it is a toner... but really it is a cleanser. I don't get the name, say what you are! But once you realise what this actually is you are in for a treat.
I like the packaging quite a lot. It has a clear plastic container with a tightly fitting lid. It comes with a pump and as you pump it out you can see how much is left in the container as the product itself is brown. I think that each pump doesn't actually give that much product so I always end up using more (probably more than I should).
The product itself is brown gel, and smells quite natural but a bit like Morrocan hair oil. As you rub it in to your skin it has a great creamy feel. I then add a bit of water and rub it in more and it slightly foams. It removes makeup well although it isn't particularly great with eye makeup but that is nothing that a swipe of Micellar water can't fix. The thing that I like most about this product is that it leaves my skin feeling nice and clean but not at all dry. I haven't had any problems with my skin using this, and I think that my skin has enjoyed it with my skin clearing slightly.
I am going through this product at an extremely fast pace of knots and it won't be long until it is in my empties for the month. When I finish it I don't think I'll be repurchasing though as I have a few cleansers to use up and have a plan for my skincare after using those.
