I got this as a gift and instantly fell in love with it's silver sleekness embellished with stars and the name Stila. I had never tried anything Stila before I got this but had heard so many good things. Of course I was excited after reading the great reviews.
I love that it winds up so doesn't need sharpening like alot of eye liners I have used. I find it very frustrating to have to sharpen pencils then of course there are the shavings which make a mess but there is none of that with the Stila Smudge Stick. I love that it also has a lid because I can't tell you how many times my makeup bag has black lines or smudges inside from pencils with no lids. I love that it's not a black it's in a shade of chocolate brown called Damsel which I usually use but this is far more versatile and matches anything without looking too dramatic or over done.
The pressing question: Is is waterproof? I have cried, gone to the gym and sweated as well as got rained on and my eyeliner stayed put. I am sure it's safe to say there is no more panda eyes for me and that it really is waterproof.
$25 is a lot of money for someone like me who is on a tight budget when it comes to makeup but $25 for quality is something I can live with and am secure in the knowledge that my liner will look great and stay in place. I am in love with this.
When I purchased one of my all time favourite palettes - Stila's 'In the Light', it came with a smudge stick. Having never tried these before I wasn't really expecting to be overwhelmed - an eyeliner is an eyeliner right? The palette came with the shade Damsel, which is a matte chocolate brown.
Stila always has packaging that appeals to me and the packaging is one of the things I adore and dislike about this liner. To look at, it is a pretty brown pencil with silver stars embossed in the plastic. It looks adorable and I love it. The pencil is a wind up one and here ism u only gripe with it - once you have wound it up, you can't wind it back down. This is especially useful to know in case you feel the need to wind the entire pencil up - don't! I dont u ne'er tans why Stila did this and it annoys me to no end.
The pencil itself is super soft, extremely pigmented and a beautiful matte, deep brown. One swipe is all you need for a great line but you can build it up if you want to. One of my favourite things about this pencil is that it is super easy to smudge and smoke out before it sets. Once it is set it won't budge but if you are looking for a pencil to perfect a smokey grunge look, then this will be your bff.
Overall I really like this pencil - except for the packaging issue. In all honesty I am not sure if I would pay $25 for it though, but I wouldn't pay that for any eyeliner.mit is a great pencil and I d love it but I'm not sure I would purchase it due to the price and the packaging issue I mentioned above.
