CURL SECRET CERAMIC AUTO CURLER

The VS Sassoon Curl Secret is a secret that should be kept no more. This auto curler is a game changer when it comes to curling technology. You are able to choose from 5 different heat settings for all different hair types and 3 different curl designs. I have a medium thickness hair so went for 180 degrees which was perfect.

I first tried the wavy design which gave a nice natural look, I made a small mistake here of trying to put too much hair in the barrel and I was quite concerned my hair was going to wind up stuck in the barrel of the curler but as the curler started to take my hair it automatically beeped at me and I was able to easily remove the hair tangle free (thank gosh). Take 2 with a smaller amount of hair provided the perfect natural curl. A great feature that the VS Sassoon has built in is it allows you to pick the direction of the curl - R for the Right side of your head and L for the Left or you can chose to mix it up, for the natural curl I used the alternating feature and found this gave me the desired look.

Next, I trialled the loose curl, I found this to be more of a classic styled curl which would be nice for going out to dinner or for a special occasion. I recommend letting your hair cool and then running a wide tooth comb through your curls for a nice finish.

Finally I tried the defined curl setting where this definitely provided a much tighter curl, still lovely but I prefer a more natural curl personally so probably wouldn't use this feature as often. If you love the ultra-defined look I can recommend this setting for you.

Prior to trialling this gem I used a GHD to curl my hair and I won't be going back. The VS Sassoon Curl Secret is definitely my new best friend and I would definitely recommend this product to others!

I was so excited to trial this curler and it lived up to its expectations! It comes in a standard no frills box with nothing but the curler and basic instructions... but that is all you need! It's impossible to burn yourself on it, so no need for gloves. It doesn't come with a case, but there's not really a need for that either. The curler itself is really stylish with gold accents. I love it! The instructions are super simple and easy to follow, and I recommend reading them before you use it. I love that it really does do what it says. It has a button to change curl direction from left to right, or alternating curls, different heat settings for all hair types, 3 different curl settings and the tangle free technology really works. My hair got tangled in it and it stopped which freaked me out a bit, but I gently pulled it away and my hair came straight out. I also love that it has written on it the side that needs to be held closest to the head so you never get it back to front. Because it is so easy to use, it only took me 10 minutes to do my entire head, which is great for using every day. The other pro is that it beeps when you need to pull your hair out, so there is no guess work on how long to hold it for, and it also makes for consistent curls. And it's great that the chamber is see through so you can see what's happening to your hair. I have 2 teenage girls that are always asking me to help curl their hair with straightners or the curling wand, but not now! Both girls have tried it and love it! They have both played around with creating different curls and styles. We all have long hair that is medium to fine, and we have all found it really easy to use. The only con I have about this is that the 3 different curl settings are not really much different. It's just the time that the hair is held in, so it makes the curl stronger or weaker. But if you play around with the thickness of the hair strands you put in, you can create bigger or smaller curls. All in all, we love this curler. So quick and easy to use. Easy to clean. And small enough to pop in your overnight bag. Thanks for the opportunity to to review BR.

There are only two things that I would say I struggle with when it comes to beauty. One is nails (which thanks to nail wraps I’ve sorted) the other is curling my hair into nice loose curls.

So naturally an auto curler was something I was immensely keen to try.

In the box you get the curler (including cord with plug) and instructions. The instructions give you a written guide and a QR code to watch a video tutorial on their website.

The curler is encased in plastic and is marked telling you which side of the curler you need to have closest to your head. This is important and if you slot your hair though from the other side the curler won’t get the right angle and thus won’t work.

However the slot isn’t large and I do wonder how easy this product would be with thicker hair. But on the plus side it does seem to keep my hair sections more consistent.

The curler also has settings for 3 different curl intensities, curl direction and heat settings for hair thickness.

The quick start guide also provides recommendations on which settings are best for each curl type.

Upon using the curler, Divide the hair into sections and feed small pieces into the curler. Hold the hair taunt and then drag down diagonally when inserting into the curler. Press start and the hair will be pulled into the curler. The curler will then whirl for a few seconds. For best results hair should then be held in place for a few more seconds, then gently released when the curler beeps.

A few things to note: often there are strands you think are in line to be curler that don’t get pulled in. Pulling the hair down diagonally seems to assist with this. If you don’t guide the hair well enough it can also get tangled and stop the curler. So far I have found that hair is then released easily. For some reason I also found the right side much easier to do than the left.

While inserting the hair into the Curl Secret seems trickier than a curling iron, I think the curls from this are far better than what I personally manage to get with a curling iron or curling with a straightener (and less ringlet-like).

The only time before using the curler that I have liked how my hair looked curled was when it was done professionally. This device however gives me hope that I might be able to finally curl my hair in a way I like.

The other thing I liked about the Curl Secret was with the plastic casing, the risk of accidentally burning myself was significantly reduced.

I haven’t yet had the curler on long enough to see if it automatically turns itself off, but that is also a feature that I know I’ll be grateful for when I leave the house and suddenly can’t remember turning the curler off.

So stoked to have been chosen for this review team! 😊 I received the curler in its box, packaged well. I liked the colours of the box and the pictures on the box make it obvious what it is and what it can do. The unit itself is a good size and feels good in my hand. The colours of the unit are nice, grey and gold making it look quite expensive. My hair is shoulder length but not all the same length and curling with my straightener was damaging my hair. I like that the barrel is see through so you can see your hair when it’s in there, this is important for me. I love the buttons to select the curl, heat, and temperature – they are a good size and easy to press. It heats up quickly, which is super important for me and I’m sure lots of people. I selected the heat temperature of 165 degrees as my hair is quite fine. I then selected the curl type, I chose the wavy as I didn’t really want a tight curl, just a wave. I use the left curl to do the left side of my head and the right for the right side – then I used alternating for the back. I found it easy to follow the instructions and to set the curler to how you wanted it, just a few pushes of the buttons and I was away! Loved how it has an auto curling system with tangle-free technology – I got my hair stuck in an older style heated curler which sucked, so really glad this one has the tangle free mechanism! The ceramic coated barrel is fantastic as it doesn’t damage my hair (it’s bleached and can be a bit dry), so doesn’t come out all frizzy and yuck looking! Price point it’s a little on the higher side for me budget wise, but I’d probably find somewhere with Afterpay so I could buy it as I really like it a lot! I will use this once a week to curl my whole head and I use it on other days to do just one side of my fringe when I wear my hair up, so is going to get used a lot! Thanks again BR and VS Sassoon 😊

I've got medium-length, thick, and sometimes frizzy hair, and while I've curled my hair a few times before, I've never felt like a pro at it.

The Curl Secret by VS Sassoon blew me away with its flexibility. It lets us choose different curls and temperatures based on our hair type. You can even pick the direction you want your curls to go. I went with 210°C and the default curls, which seem to suit my hairstyle the best.

Setting it up and choosing the settings is very easy. However, figuring out the right amount of hair to put in and which direction to turn it initially was a bit tricky. But after some trial and error, I got the hang of it. Once your hair is done, it beeps, letting you know it's time to move on.

My only wish is that it could curl more hair at once. Doing small sections can be time-consuming, though I reckon this might be less of an issue for those with thinner hair.

The curls turn out lovely, especially when I use hairspray to keep them in place. They last a whole day before needing a touch-up.

The size is perfect for traveling or carrying in a medium-sized bag for touch-ups during the day. It's also great that the barrel cover is clear, so you can watch how the device works. Plus, you can detach it for easy cleaning or removing any stuck hair.

Overall, it's easy to use and gives fantastic results. So, it's a thumbs up from me!

Ok this auto curler is next level! I’ve never used an automatic curler before only manual curling tongs and I always give up , I have a lot of hair . Plus having carpal tunnel it’s too much work .

The tool itself is so easy to hold , heats up super fast . You don’t burn yourself the actual tool itself isn’t hot , instructions are fool proof and results are so easy to achieve. It’s like a steam curl , curl secret ceramic auto curler is amazing!

Literally brush your dry hair , add heat protection, comb out again . Section your hair . Now less is more if you have hair longer than your shoulders otherwise it will tangle up and will feel like it’s ripping hair out of your head . But you can easily untangle once it’s cooled a little bit .

There’s definitely a trick to getting curls closer to your head , go slow , don’t rush to slot your hair into the guide. The curls also actually last so long! My daughter has rib length, naturally straight hair . Lasted three days!!! That’s a world record for her! I’m so happy I was able to take part in this trial , it’s absolutely changed my mind on adding bouncy curls to my hair .

I was so lucky to be picked to trial the curl secret ceramic auto curler and let me tell you it did not disappoint. This has to be the most easy and consistent way to curl your hair. Every curl came out looking just as curled, smooth and defined as each other. The curls are perfect everytime. The tool it's self is sleek and comfortable to hold. The barrel has a slot where you place your hair section into and then the magic happens. It gently draws the hair around the barrel and beeps when the curl is ready. As you lower the tool the bouncy smooth curled hair section is revealed. Honestly the first time using it I was so amazed. It does take a few mins to work out hand positioning and placing the hair section but once you have that sorted it only took me a couple mins to curl all of my hair. I love how it has the different curl settings so I can control curl direction and choose out of the 3 curl types ,either loose, defined or wavy. Also safety auto shut off a total fav for us anxious girlies that never remember if they turned off their hot tools lol also having the barrel covered no burnt fingers in the process. So great it has the 5 heat settings so you can adjust for any hair type.I found the curls lasted so well in my hair. I could rock the same curls for 2-3 days by day 3 they were more beachy curls but still looked great. My hair has a natural wave/occasional messy curl that tends to go frizzy esp after being brushed. Prior to trialing this my go to was using my old GHD straighter to curl but I would always have to go over my hair first with the straighter to straighten and remove the frizz so I got a semi decent looking curl, which just causes more heat damage to my hair. I found when using the curl secret my hair could easily go through brushed in its natural state and the curl came out perfect, smooth and frizz free. One of my worries when first using this tool was what if my hair got jammed and stuck in the barrel but honestly there's no need to worry. The tool stops and releases, then gently lower the tool from your head the hair comes out. I found if the hair section was too thick or if the section wasn't defined enough and it caught extra hair on its way In then it may jam the tool but definitely the hair is easy to remove from the barrel when needed. Over all I'm so impressed. The ease of curling my hair is now fun and sooo much quicker. So much so im a curled goddess on the daily :) . What a crazy device - who invents this magical heated curling stick?!? Super easy to use - choose your curl type, direction, and then the heat level and slide a pinch of hair in and see it curl up with delight. Takes just roughly 30 seconds per curl to beep, and let you know it's ready. Was fantastic at helping my top layer of curls to come together and not turn into a tangled mess. Helped control them and reduce the frizz by putting them back into place.

I have very straight, fine, thin hair, so I've been obsessively using curling tools since I was a teenager. My current curler of choice has been a VS straighter with curved plate edges, but I am very happy to say this automatic curler has blown it into the dust.

It took me a little while to get my head around how to use, but once I got the hang of it it was surprisingly quick to do my entire head. I also tend to get a bit impatient, but having the tool tell you exactly how long to leave the curl heating for is amazing for those of us who perhaps do some sections longer than others! I also found the direction change options really useful as I like to have my curls going away from my face on each side. I think my favourite part would have to be how difficult it is to burn yourself with though, as the heated barrel is on the inside. It also means you can put it down on a counter after it's done and not need to worry about burning the house down.

The only thing I thought it didn't do very well is smaller pieces of hair, like curtain bangs, so I will keep my straightener on rotation for bits that are smaller or need a bit more precision, but overall this has quickly become a valued tool in my arsenal.

Its an amazingly easy device to use and does a real professional job. It heats up quickly with no fear of any burns as the heat inside the barrel. It gives beautiful curls that last not only all day, but overnight too. I experimented with all the 3 types of curls, tight, loose as well as wavy and found the wavy and the loose curls look the best on me. I found it a bit difficult to curl the hair at the back and needed my daughter’s help, but the end result was wonderful. I absolutely love this gadget and recommend to everyone for a lovely professional look.
