This was my first time using a product with Witch Hazel in it, so I wasn’t sure what to expect. I have to say, I really like the Thayers Cucumber Alcohol-Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera!
It has a fantastic scent. It’s really refreshing which I love in the morning. I’m a cucumber fan, so for me this scent is very calming and soothing too. The toner itself looks just like water, clear and thin but has a slightly different feel to it. It’s great for all skin types but the natural ingredients make it an excellent choice for those with sensitive skin.
Thayers have simple packaging with a classic feel to the branding. The bottle itself has an easy-to-use red top and clear plastic body – great for knowing exactly how much product is left. There is a very generous amount of toner itself, considering the retail price, it really feels like great value for money.
It feels like it has worked wonders for my skin, leaving my face and neck feeling clean and refreshed without stripping away my skin’s precious natural oils. My pores looked tighter, skin tone evened and moisturised. Being an alcohol-free product meant there was no drying out of my skin like I’ve experienced with other toners before – very important on cold Dunedin days when the elements are against you!
I recommend the Thayers Cucumber Alcohol-Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera to anyone looking for a gentle and effective toner, at a great price. After a period of not having a regular toner, I don’t think I could do without one now!
I'm not a stranger to Thayers products, my OG toner used to be the Thayers Rose Petal toner when I used to live overseas, and I'm glad Thayers is now available in NZ. Glad to be part of the trial team for this, or I wouldn't have known otherwise!
I like the value and size of this product (355ml), you can use it generously twice a day and will last you several months. You can even decant some onto a spray bottle as a face mist to freshen up on hot afternoons.
Formula is alcohol-free so it doesn't sting or dry out the skin. The ingredient list is pretty good - cucumber and aloe vera are both soothing for the skin, and witch hazel helps with acne-prone skin without being harsh and drying.
Tips: I do find the Thayers Cucumber toner just slightly too fragranced for my liking, but that's just my personal preference, and it won't stop me from buying it. Maybe also because I'm used to the Thayers Rose Petal toner which is a lot more subtle in fragrance. There's also a lavender one that I've never tried, which I think would be a relaxing aromatherapy for bedtime. There's also a fragrance-free option if you prefer that or you're sensitive to fragranced products.
I love Thayers, definitely give their toners a go!
