Thayers Cucumber Alcohol-Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera

I was very excited to try Thayers Cucumber Alcohol-Free Toner as anything that can make my skin more moisturized and healthy has got to be a great thing! After trying it out myself, I have to say that I am overall quite impressed with this toner.

One of the standout features of this product is its natural formulation. It contains witch hazel, aloe vera, and cucumber extract, which are all known for their soothing and hydrating properties. I found that this toner did a great job of removing any leftover dirt or impurities on my skin after cleansing, while also leaving my skin feeling refreshed and moisturized.

Another plus point of Thayers Cucumber Alcohol-Free Toner is the size and look of the bottle. This toner will last for a long time! I believe the RRP is great value for money. I love the overall style of the bottle and the flip lid makes it really easy to use and not to waste product.

However, one thing that I didn't particularly like about this toner was its smell. While it is marketed as cucumber-scented, I found that the smell was very cucumbery, and not particularly pleasant. Obviously considering it is a cucumber toner this is a bit of a silly complaint however my nose just struggles to get past the scent.

Overall, I would definitely recommend Thayers Cucumber Alcohol-Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera for those looking for a gentle, natural toner. While the scent was not for me, the benefits of this product in terms of hydration and soothing properties make it well worth trying out.

I was definitely excited to give this product a go. I remember the original witch Hazel toner being a must have about 10 years ago (although it’s been around longer than that). First of all it really smells like cucumber fresh out of the fridge. I lovely refreshing smell that compliments the fresh feeling it gives after you use it. It’s a generous sized bottle with a flip top lid and a very small hole to squeeze the product from which is great to avoid using too much and absolutely perfect for putting on the tip of a cotton bud to quickly wipe away that wonky winged eyeliner or any misplaced mascara etc. Having gotten used to micellar water for cleansing this definitely feels a lot different on the skin. Initially after application my face flushes a little red which is normal for me but it does seem to have a calming effect on my skin. I can 100% confirm it’s hydrating but not in an oily type of way. It almost seems to hydrate while reducing oiliness. I normally need to quickly apply moisturiser to my face after any type of cleansing or my skin starts drying out so I applied this after cleansing and left my skin and it didn’t dry out like it would normally. It made my skin feel calmer and look less red I felt but I’m not too sure about glowing. I didn’t feel like it removed a lot of makeup but I usually would remove makeup with oil cleanser anyway so it’s not a deal breaker for me. I also wouldn’t recommend applying too nearer the eyes I found it a bit tingly and burny for my liking. But it worked well to spot remove one of my wonky eyeliner wings and some mascara spots on my lids with a cotton bud. Overall I enjoyed using this product it seemed to work well as a refreshing toner with mild cleansing products. Definitely recommend it to others and I feel like it would be great for those with slightly oilier skin than myself.

First thought on this is what a huge bottle you get. You really get a lot of product which is great. The bottle itself kind of looks like an alcohol bottle which I personally thought was a little bit strange and not something I would pick off the shelf as I normally go for pretty packaging but that’s just me. The product itself it’s actually really nice and it does what it says and is non dry, for me it made my skin tone more even and slightly glowy. Didn’t notice a difference in my pores though. I personally really didn’t like the scent although it disappears on drying. It seems either really artificial almost to the point of smelling like a very strong rotten cucumber, although I gave it to my mum to try it and she really enjoyed the scent and thought it was fresh so personal preference on if you prefer scents or not. I have now popped it into my toner spray bottle and am applying it that way and it works great. Would recommend if you enjoy a stronger scent but it works very well to tone and even out the skin tone. Unsure if I would buy again due to the scent but would look at getting it if it were unscented as the product is great.

I'll start with the packaging. This product is a great size, I know it's going to last me a while! I do however feel like the lid doesn't close securely? Like it doesn't have that satisfying "click" when you close it, but I haven't experienced it leaking yet. The opening is quite small, so it's easy to control how much product comes out, which is handy.

The scent is mild and the hint of cucumber is refreshing.

One thing I really appreciate about this toner is how gentle it feels on the skin. After using it, my skin feels soothed and refreshed, without the harsh and drying effects that can sometimes come with toners that contain alcohol. I still recommend following up with a moisturiser, as witch hazel can still have a slight drying affect on the skin after a while.

In terms of results, I have noticed that my overall skin tone has evened out slightly, which is great. However, I have been experiencing more acne lately, but I'm not sure if that's related to the toner or just due to other factors like stress or being run down. I also haven't noticed much difference in pore size, but I'm yet to find ANY product that has helped my pores.

What a funky looking bottle. Looks like a bottle of gin before it looks like a toner. Nice easy opening top with great security seal. Smell is amazing and refreshing just as described as cucumber and witch hazel. The little hole makes it easy to dispense onto the cotton pad. The application is also just as promised! Really refreshing and a gentle tingling. I found that it cleared away a lot of residual oils that had remained after my face cleanser. My skin did feel lovely and very hydrated. I used it twice daily and I love how radiant my skin looks. I love the fact that is has so many natural ingredients and trust using it on my face. This is one of the good ones ladies!

Really cool bottle… makes you feel like an 1800’s potion master!! Decent amount held in bottle. Easy clip top. Firstly, why use toner when most skincare situations have everything toner is made for included ? Secondly, I do need to keep up using so I can see if pore tightening/ skin hydration is worth diving into the world of toner. Can’t say I’ve noticed anything other than more cotton rounds in the bin. Is it worth it? Nope? Do modern skincare products make toner invalid? Yes? Would I purchase again? No. Do I like it? Yes?

I like how the toner comes in a decent sized bottle and the lid allows the right amount of product to come out. No product is wasted. The fragrance is not over powering at all, more of a watered down cucumber smell. I used a cotton pad to apply each time, and it left my face feeling refreshed and clean. This toner is infused with cucumber and aloe vera and is alcohol free which is why my face was not left feeling sticky after using. I did not notice any difference in my pores but I did notice I had no dry skin which I usually get in colder months. Great for cleansing!

Im just not sure on the fragrance of cucumber personally I think about it every-time I use it like feels strange having a vegetable scent on my face. Some people might love it though!
