I've always wondered what toners really do? How do they benefit and improve the skin overall? From the toners I have tried I would say that this has been my favourite one. It's light and refreshing once applied to the skin and smells divine! But in saying that I'm still left wondering what toners do? Overall there has been no lasting improvements to my skin. I find that all the things I like about this product are very short term. I like that it is easy to apply with a quick swipe of a product soaked cotton pad post cleansing, it's hydrating and calming, it doesn't feel like its stripping my skin and the light lavender scent is yummy. But it dries so quickly that these benefits don't feel like they last, and if the product is fully being absorbed into my skin I don't think it has added anything to my skincare regime. I applied it both morning and night and it says it hydrates your skin all day. The only way I think it would do that was if you were applying it multiple times a day. Having a handy spray bottle of this in your handbag would be great, I'm planning on actually doing that. I think it would be a great hydrating and cooling mist, the lavender is just perfect, subtle but effective and calming. It also says that skin texture is visibly smoother and more even with smaller pores after a week of use. I haven't seen any of this! But I'll keep using it, and wait and see (and hope) if it does. I do think that the size of the product is fantastic, a little goes a long way so it will last forever. I can see it being great value for money for people that really benefit from toners.

Tips: Try it with a spray/mister bottle?
I really wanted to like this toner as I’ve been hoping to add a toner into my skincare routine for awhile. Coming into the colder months, my skin is starting to get a bit dull and on the dryer side, so a toner with witch hazel and aloe seemed like a good fit. The packaging itself is nice, the design fits well with the brand and it looks nice enough sitting on my vanity. You also get a good amount of product in here compared to other toners which are often 250ml. The toner has a nice scent, it isn’t overpowering and it doesn’t linger too long on the skin, so fine for people who are a bit more sensitive to overly scented products. Unfortunately I just found the toner did nothing for my skin, and if anything it dried it out more than it already was. It feels refreshing and is nice to swipe over after removing my makeup to ensure I’ve got a totally clean base before applying moisturiser, but in terms of actual skin benefits, this product wasn’t for me. Perhaps if you had oily skin this would be a better fit.
I was excited to try this toner as I love a product that can cleanse, tone and moisturise all in one! I was surprised to see the packaging, which is quite ‘old worldly’ - I can honestly say if I saw this on the shelf I probably wouldn’t buy it (it’s crazy how we judge things by their packaging!). The look is a bit strange and unappealing, I thought. The bottle is large which is great as there is lots of product. I applied using a cotton pad and wiped the product on after my usual cleanse routine. I found it good for removing anything (makeup, dirt etc) that my cleanser had missed. I experienced a bit of stinging/tingling when applying the product - nothing major but it did warm my skin a bit but it calmed quickly. The lavender smell was subtle and I liked the scent. My skin was noticeably clean and soft after application and I could definitely feel the moisturising effect. I’m not big on applying moisturiser as it makes my skin feel a bit greasy so this was a great product to use, especially under my make up, to stop any excess shine but still leave my skin soft Even though I wouldn’t have picked it myself, I was happy with the product.
Tips: If you have sensitive skin, perhaps use sparingly
My skin felt really good after using the toner, it felt really healthy and full of mositure. My skin looked amazing as well..would recommend it.
I don't normally use facial toners so this was new to me. I do find it helps cleanse the skin more, (I thought my skin was clean, but there was always extra makeup on the toner pad). It had a nice light pleasant fragrance, and definitely felt cooling to apply. It absorbed quickly which I liked to, so I could carry on with my routine. I think my face does definitely feel slightly softer, but I havent noticed any other effects yet. I have actually had a few spots pop up which may be attributed to this toner.... I will definitely continue with this and see if the other results happen in time. I think this would work well in a misting/spray bottle to apply to your face for a cooling effect when needed as it states you can apply it as often as you like. Great for those hot flushes!! Another plus is the bottle will last a long time. Thank you for the opportunity to try this.
I’ve used a whole bottle of the un scented Thayers toner and loved it. I thought I’d try a scented one. I did notice the lavender one did irritate my skin a little bit but nothing too serious. Not sure if I will re-purchase but I will definitely be buying the un scented one again
Thank you, Beauty Review, for the opportunity to trial Thayers Lavender Alcohol-Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera.
Thayers Toner comes in a large 355ml clear bottle with an 'old school looking medicine bottle label', which immediately put a smile on my face. I do like the labelling. There is a lot on information on the bottle label including directions, ingredients and origins.
After cleansing my face, initially I soaked a makeup remover pad with the toner and lightly spread across my face and neck. I am not a fan of applying this way, so distributed the toner into a clean/recycled spray bottle so I can apply by spritzing.
Thayers Lavender Alcohol-Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera feels soothing on my skin and my face feels smooth and really clean. My skin does not dry out from the toner.
Once the toner is dry, I then carry on with my normal routine of applying moisturiser etc.
I think Thayers Lavender Alcohol-Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera is good value for what you get.
I have been pleasantly surprised by this Thayers Lavender Alcohol-Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera. I haven't used toner in years as they used to be alcohol based, so would dry out my normal-dry skin.
This toner is not alcohol based and is instead, lovely and refreshing on the skin. I applied the lightly lavender fragranced toner with a damp cotton pad. It easily removed the last of my cleanser and makeup, preparing my skin for my moisturiser. It left my skin feeling nourished and made my moisturiser spread more easily, added bonus being that I used less product!
Tips: Apply a small amount to a dampened cotton pad and sweep over the skin, avoiding the eye contour area. Whilst skin is still damp, apply moisturiser.
This lovely product comes in a fairly plain plastic bottle with a pop top that has a small dispenser top underneath. The bottle works fine. I have been accessing the product by using a make up pad, pouring it onto the pad and rubbing it into my skin.
The product is thin and watery and has a lovely soft scent of lavender. After applying it, it dries quickly and leaves a soft fresh feel, and as per the product claim, does not sting the sensitive areas of my skin, nor dry out my skin. It removes left over markup and grime very efficiently when I haven't cleansed my skin very well at the end of the day.
It comes in a large 355ml bottle and is $17.99 at Chemist Warehouse, a fair price for such a large bottle that will last for ages. I most certainly recommend it to people who like to use toner or who are after an easy, gentle answer to skin hydration.
I love that it doesn't contain alcohol. It does hydrate my skin and leaves it feeling fresh, clean and soft, which is what I want and expect in a good toner. I can't say my skin tone looks more even, but it does meet the other claims. So all in all, it is a very good product that mostly does what it says it will do.
Tips: I find using it in the morning after cleansing and at night after removing make up, works very well for me.
I was really excited to be able to review this as I had seen advertising for this EVERYWHERE. Its unique label had me intrigued.
I have used Thayers Alcohol-Free Lavender Witch Hazel Facial Toner with Aloe Vera Formula for about 3 days now and I am a little disappointed as it didnt suit my skin type.
I have psoriasis so chose the lavender option as it is suitable for sensitive skin. It claimed to be a gentle toner that does not irritate skin. However after each use it did leave my skin feeling a little dry and especially so around the eyes.
I found it definitely helped to remove any excess oil or dirt from my face however wasn't able to use more than once a day.
This product has a lot going for it. It is alcohol-free, is made with witch hazel, aloe vera, and lavender all of which are all plant based natural ingredients. The scent is light and while mainly lavender, the witch hazel does come through ever so slightly but is not over bearing.
I wanted to like this product given its price point (around $15 for 355ml) but this did irritate the area around my eyes. I am currently using an eye cream so it may not pair well with that. I did stop the usage of the eye cream for 2 days to see if the irritation stopped but it didn’t.
It definitely did remove excess oil and dirt from my face but left my face feeling slightly dry. Given the irritation, this isn’t a product that I would be able to add to my regular skin care routine.
