Nice product to use. Most toners leave my skin dry but Thayers toner didn’t and left it feeling refreshed. Air had a nice smell that wasn’t too overwhelming. I also really liked the packaging. Would recommend and use again.

Tips: Good to use at night with a cotton pad after cleansing as removed any leftovers of makeup.
A bit of background: I've used toner in the past, and eventually gave it up because it seemed an unnecessary step in my already layer-ful skin routine. Plus it tended to sting my skin. Then I got to trial Thayers...
The fragrance: Yummy. Yes, it's lavender-y, but not stale, flowery, granny lavender. It's light and fresh, with almost warm vanilla undertones, and I absolutely love it.
The formula: It's the usual, very liquid toner texture. But that's where any similarity with other toners I've used ends. There's no stinging. No drying. No tightness. My skin immediately feels refreshed and super-clean but deeply moisturised.
The results: For context... my skin's dry and 54 years old. It feels tight after every cleanse, even though I use ultra-gentle cream cleansers only. And it often feels uncomfortably dry during the day and in the morning when I wake, even though I pile on moisturiser every day and night to combat this. Enter Thayers. For the two weeks of the trial, I used it morning and night, and my skin has never felt so hydrated and happy. It's dewy. Actually dewy! I'm using less moisturiser than normal in the morning, yet by the end of the day my skin's still bouncy and plump - with no 'top-ups' during the day. Same thing in the morning. I'm gobsmacked, frankly. I had no idea a toner could make such a difference.
Conclusion: Thayers claims that this is a 'gentle, non-drying toner that acts like a remedy to hydrate skin all day' and that it will give you 'glowy, moisturized skin that looks and feels healthier'. In my case, this is not an exaggerated claim. It absolutely does exactly what it says. I'm delighted I got to try it, and even more delighted that NZ stores now stock this item. I'll be buying more.
Tips: Give it a minute or two to dry down before applying the rest of your skincare. Your skin will probably still feel moist, but your serum or moisturiser will apply just fine over the top. And note that you'll likely find you need a lot less moisturiser than usual.
Stoked to be accepted for another trial team. Initial thoughts: the packaging and label seemed a tad dated but probably true to its origin roots. I like it though.
Easy to use and disperse product. Slight lavender scent which I enjoy using daily. Skin feels refreshed after use. Rather enjoy this toner. I always factor price into reviews but as I don't know the price range I can't comment on it.
However, I like this and would be keen to purchase in future.
This has been a really lovely product to use. I don't usually use a toner in my skincare routine, largely because previous toners I've tried have been quite drying for my combination/normal skin. I've been pleasantly surprised by this, however!
Packaging is functional and attractive with the old-school Thayer's font and picture. It's easy to control the amount of toner you want and the lid clips shut securely, so I'm not worried about it spilling.
The smell is lovely. Not too strong, but a soft lavender that is really relaxing. I wouldn't recommend if you're someone who usually requires unfragranced products, but I personally don't find this overpowering or unpleasant.
I've been using this on a cotton pad after removing any makeup, and wiping it gently over my entire face sans eyes. It feels slightly cooling initially, but then I'm just left with really hydrated and glowy skin. The few times I've used it without having had makeup on previously I have noticed it does remove a bit of grime/oil from my bare skin, so I can see how it could be used as a very gentle cleanser if you normally don't wear any makeup products.
Has it reduced pores and improved my skin texture? I don't think it has in a miraculous sense, but I do feel that my skin looks nicer immediately following the toner and I haven't had any skin issues or breakouts as a result of using it.
Overall, I'd recommend this to anyone who has dry/normal skin, and who loves a lavender scent. I may purchase again.
Tips: Apply with a cotton round after cleansing, and gently pat/wipe over skin.
Thayers Lavender Alcohol-Free Toner with Witch Hazel Aloe Vera comes in a large clear bottle with a distinctive red top. It's large size and low price makes it hard to beat on the affordability front. I've used it twice a day for over two weeks and I'd say I haven't even used 5% of the bottle, with some basic maths that would put it at approximately 500 uses per bottle which is pretty amazing.
Then first opening the inner seal in the lid was super difficult to get off - it needs longer grab tabs to be less of a pain. Once the seal is gone, the lip is easy to open, pouring out toner onto a cotton pad or similar and swiping across your face. I do wish it came in a spray top though, meaning you wouldn't have to use cotton pads etc. Feels like it's creating needless waste.
On application the toner smells ever so slightly of lavender but also something else vaguely chemically smelling that I couldn't quite pick - but maybe that's the witch hazel.
The toner left my skin feeling ok, but maybe more 'dry' than my usual (although maybe this is just the difference between my regular toner that sprays on, rather than having to be swiped around), but I definitely didn't notice the dewy, moisturised or improved skin texture as promised.
Overall it's better than anything I've bought in the supermarket, it's doesn't strip your skin and is super good value for money. I'd say it's the second best toner I've tried. Would definitely recommend if you are looking for something new to try.
Tips: Use reusable cotton pads to avoid creating waste everytime you use this.
I have been terrible with using toner over the years, so this was great to use!
Unfortunately I didn't get to use this much as it only arrived a few days before the cut off date, but for what has I had with it, it smells great, doesn't aggrevate my skin and leave it feeling refreshed and clean. I would definitely consider getting this again.
Tips: No
This worked really well for me! I have used toners in the past but often felt they didn’t make much of a difference. I have oily skin and am prone to breakouts. I was able to try this in a few different points in my cycle and really felt like it helped to sooth and calm down hormonal acne.
It felt very similar in consistency to other toners like a slightly thick water. The packaging was nice, a plastic bottle but a good size (355ml). It comes out of the bottom nice and slow on its own and you can squeeze the sides for more. It felt like a small amount went a long way so I feel like the bottle will last quite a few months.
I really liked the smell, somewhat strong but natural. Can definitely smell the witch hazel - I’m not sure that I could smell the lavender.
While it doesn’t claim to remove makeup, I did try it for that and feel like it worked really well leaning my skin feeling soft and smooth. It does sting the eyes slightly but it isn’t actually intended for that area. I did find it could take off my eye makeup as well though.
I definitely agree that my skin feels more moistened, glowy and it helps with evening skin tone! I haven’t noticed my pores appearing smaller which is why I have removed a point on doing what it said it would.
The bottle recommends using it as needed throughout the day so I did try it multiple times to see if my skin would feel drier but I think it worked well to keep every ring balanced. I feel like it would be great to refresh with throughout the day in summer! Overall, I will definitely keep using this and repurchase in future! I am really liking the balance and soothing on my breakouts.
If you're looking for a toner that not only smells amazing but also works wonders for your skin, Thayers Lavender Toner is the way to go!
First off, let's talk about the scent - it's absolutely divine! The lavender scent is calming and soothing, making it the perfect addition to your skincare routine before bed. It's not overpowering or artificial, which is a huge plus for those with sensitive skin or allergies.
But it's not just the scent that's impressive - this toner also has great moisturizing properties. The formula is infused with aloe vera and witch hazel, both of which are known for their hydrating benefits. After using this toner, my skin feels refreshed and plump, and it helps to keep my dry patches at bay.
Overall, I highly recommend Thayers Lavender Toner to anyone looking for a toner that not only smells amazing but also does wonders for your skin. It's gentle, hydrating, and effective - what more could you ask for?
Ok, the old dude on the packaging made me laugh, so stern. So out of place in the beauty world. Me loves it!
My skin has been a bit oily of late, I don't know why, it's annoying! If you're on the hunt for a toner that can help balance out your oily skin, look no further than Thayers Lavender Toner!
I've been using it for a few weeks now, and I've noticed a significant improvement in my skin's overall texture and appearance.
One thing I love about this toner is that it doesn't strip your skin of its natural oils. The formula is infused with witch hazel, which is a natural astringent that helps to tighten pores and reduce inflammation. This toner also contains lavender, which is known for its soothing and anti-inflammatory properties, making it perfect for calming down any redness or irritation.
After using this toner, my skin feels balanced and refreshed. It doesn't leave any residue or sticky feeling, and it's perfect for prepping my skin for the rest of my skincare routine. I've also noticed that my makeup goes on smoother and lasts longer after using this toner.
Overall, if you have oily or acne-prone skin, Thayers Lavender Toner is a must-try! It helps to regulate oil production, tighten pores, and leave your skin feeling toned and fresh. Plus, it smells amazing and is gentle enough for daily use. Highly recommend!
My skin felt really good after using the toner, it felt really healthy and full of mositure. My skin looked amazing as well..would recommend it.
