I love this moisturiser! What I most like about it is that it soaks into my skin and like it says, leaves no oily residue. This is the only moisturiser I have ever used that has actually been absorbed into my skin. Very very impressed by that! it left my skin feeling a little sticky but very moisturised :)

Tips: Use after toning and cleansing
I've really liked using this moisturiser, it moisturises my skin without making it go oily afterwards, I use it as step 3 in the skincare range. My only thing is that it can be hard to rub into my face, it doesn't instantly sink in. I've been using this twice a day for over a month now and am about 2/3's of the way through. It has the tea tree oil scent, but isn't overpowering. I prefer packaging that comes in a pump form for hygiene. It's a great price for the amount you receive.
I have had acne for the last 20 or so years, and I'm now in my forties and still struggling with it. I was very excited to be chosen for the acne trial to see if this could be the product range for me. Sadly after using it for 2 weeks, my skin had broken out so badly, the worst it has been in years, that I stopped using the products. It irritated my skin so much that I am still breaking out. However I will review how I found the products.
This product comes in a pot, where you have to dip your fingers in to get the product, I don't particularly like this as I feel that you can easily introduce bacteria into the product before you have finished using it. It smells quite strong, and left my skin with quite a greasy finish, which made it hard to apply my makeup, as it tended to slide off. Using all three products together, irritated my skin terribly, but I saw on the ingredients list that these products do contain alcohol, lemon and other known acne irritants,so maybe that's why I reacted so badly. My skin felt really oily , as if it was overcompensating for the harshness of using the three products together.
Tips: Use it sparingly, its quite rich.
Like the title say I am really on the fence with this product. The reason being is that the consistency and feeling of the moisturizer is so sticky! It left my face and hands so sticky and yuck feeling. It did not matter how much or how little I used it still felt sticky! This was the only thing that put me off using it everyday. And it was a big issue for me.
Now to the good things. It made my skin so moisturized and healthy looking and just feeling young and plump. It didn't over moisturize or make my skin oily.
I could see how it helped the rest of the Thursday Plantation Tea Tree line. And aided to get rid of the acne. It just gives that extra Tea Tree kick.
It has a slight Tea Tree scent, which is refreshing and nice that its not over powering. Also somewhat soothing.
Tips: If you can look past the stickiness this is one of the best moisturizers for acne prone and oily skin!
About Me
Let me start off by sharing a bit about my skin. I have very oily and acne prone skin. I've had acne for more than 10 years and have been on every drug, cream and face wash you can imagine. Things tend to work for me for around a month and then the acne returns. I believe my acne is hormonal and before using this product it was moderate in severity.
Results
Three weeks into the trial and I've seen no improvement in my acne using the Thursday Plantation acne range. This face cream is very heavy and leaves my skin feeling weighed down and like an oil slick! I've had to stop using it as my face would just be covered in oil as soon as I walked out the door.
Would I recommend it?
I would not recommend this face cream. It's far too thick to be able to apply morning and night and doesn't feel nice on the skin for this reason.
Nuts & Bolts
Consistency- This cleanser is very thick and I think off putting for those with acne prone skin. It's very hard to spread it all over the face without using a whole lot.
Coverage-I felt like I had to use a lot to get it spread over my entire face.
Longevity- Based on how much I've used so far I would estimate this product would last about 2 months.
Packaging- The packaging is good, it comes in a cute little pottle.
Tips: Ensure you have clean hands before reaching in the pottle.
This face cream was ok - to be honest it had a weird texture that I didn't like. It felt like face cream but it dried like a gel (that sounds weird, but it's the only way I can describe it). The smell was nice and fresh, and it definitely did keep the moisture in my skin. However it also made my face really shiny, it didn't clog my pores but it did make me look absolutely terrible. It was at the point where my foundation was just sliding off my face!
Even when I only used a tiny bit, it seemed to have really oily, slippery effects. Having said that, I didn't notice it actually cause any blemishes, just oiliness. For someone with oily skin, and it's supposed to help with problem skin, it didn't work at all. I wouldn't recommend this one at all, unless the person had normal to dry skin to begin with (sorry!)
Tips: The Facewash and the Blemish stick in this same range worked really well, but the Blemish Gel & Face Cream didn't do the same :(
I would not use this product again. I have sensitive skin and prior to using this product I was worried about adverse reactions so I spot tested it with no issues. However, when I used it (following on from the Thursday Plantation Tea Tree Face Wash and Toner) I had a terrible reaction to it - my face was instantly stinging and went bright red.
I also found that the cream was quite thick and did not absorb into my skin very well either.
Tips: If you have sensitive skin, be very careful before using all three products in the Thursday Plantation system (face wash, toner and face cream) all together.
I've been struggling with acne for 15 years and I make it quite loud and clear how passionate I am about anything acne related, so seeing BR offering the acne trial I just had to jump. Natural products, trialling in the safety of my own environment, win win for me.
First impression: Its a tiny pot and I worried it wouldnt last the full duration of 6 weeks for the trial. Its a strong pungent smell and I was worried about the lasting smell if I used it during the day.
First use: Using the dot system, I just experimented and placed 5 dots on my face (cheeks, nose, forehead and chin). The cream is thick and creamy and was definitely more than enough to cover my entire face. It spread quickly and evenly and provided such a lovely relief to the burning sensation I had with the toner. I closed my eyes and it actually felt like my Elizabeth Arden 8 hour cream. I was really happy that it had the feel of a high end skin product as opposed to your normal cardboard feeling acne products. The smell is actually worse when you smell directly from the pot than when its transfered to your face. You hardly smell it so I was pleased about that.
Week 1: The cream just soaked and ran away immediately and I wasnt experiencing any nourishing effects. My skin had become angry and pimply and I think the adjustment of to the tree tee oil left my skin striped and dry, so it was hungry for this cream.
Week 2: My skin is less angry and doesnt feel dry anymore I think the cream is actually starting to provide some benefits. My skin is soft and silky for the first time which is great. Eventhough the cream is easily absorbed, I'm now getting the nourishing benefits of the cream.
Week 3: Day 21 and NO ACNE! My pores were much smaller and my skin felt hydrated from the regular use and I had a healthy glow, even though it was through horrible acne scarring, but a glow non the less.
Week 4: A few acne breakouts around my nose and forehead. I used at night and then a few times in the morning as my skin was getting really oily and I wanted to limited the amount of product that I was using. My skin is still feeling nourished, soft and even though I have new acne, it wasnt as red and disease looking.
Week 5: I used at night and then 3 mornings as not to overload my face with products and this was working as my skin was no longer oily. My skin is soft and day 34, no pimples in my face.
Week 6: Still using at night and a few times in the morning and the oiliness is really at bay now. I have some new acne, but skin is still feeling healthy which I have never experienced while using acne products.
I will continue to use this product, because eventhough my skin becomes oily from over using it, I love the high end feel of this cream and opposed to normal everyday acne products.
Tips: You only need 5 dots for your entire face. Dont overload your skin with products.
If you have oily skin you dont need to use this everyday but make sure to use it at night so your skin can reap the repair and nourishment benefits while you sleep.
Common sense: Its a pot that you dip your fingers into so always make sure your hands are clean to avoid any germ transfer.
