Revlon Gel Envy Diamond Top Coat Review

This is a top coat I only brought because I had the Revlon gel nail polishes, and since you ‘have’ to use them together, I had to purchase this as well, even though I already have a million top coats (great marketing or what).

It comes it the same shaped bottle as the coloured Revlon colour stay polishes. The bottle is made out of glass, but it is not see-through. It is black, and I actually like this. Makes it easy to pick out amongst all the coloured nail polishes as looks really classy.

The formula on the nail polish is pretty similar to all top coats. It is see-through, and has a good consistency, not too thick and not to runny. The most unique thing about this top coat is the brush. It comes with the standard nail polish design (attached to the lid by a stick thing), but the brush is actually two smaller brushes joined together, and I find this is the perfect size to evenly coat my entire nail in just two strokes. Genius idea.

So does this top coat do what it says? Yes! It dries reasonably fast for a top coat and it prolongs nail polish wear. I use this with the colour stay nail polish range as well as normal nail polishes, and it gives my normal nail polish so much more wear. Even removing the nail polish is harder because of this top coat.

In all honesty, this has become my favourite top coat to use when doing my nails, and I’m pretty tempted to throw my OPI top coat out because I have just realised how average it is. Buy this!!

I applied this to freshly painted nails in Showtime by Revlon Gel Envy. It doesn't take any longer than regular top coat to dry but I felt over cautious about my nails until I was certain they were hardened. Once I was sure they had set my nails were feeling a little odd, kind of tight feeling (I know that sounds odd but best way I could describe the sensation), and that settled down after a while.

So longevity of wear.. days! 4-5 days before even the first sign of lift or wear, It all came off pretty easily as well, just a basic nail polish remover & cotton rounds was all that I needed and came off like any ordinary lacquer.

I have been painting my nails for more years than I care to remember and to find the ultimate top coat was a dream come true.

This top coat comes in a typical nail polish bottle and you get 11.7mls. The brush is pretty great. Usually one stroke will do your nail.

The formula is clear and a good consistancy. It goes on smoothly and it is good and long lasting.

I use this top coat in conjunction with the Revlon Gel Envy nail polishes and I can get a weeks wear out of an application. I also use this top caot on other brands of nail polish and it works just as well.

I will give my nails another top coat just to refresh the shine half way through the week, and the bonus of this top coat is that it comes off with your usual nail polish remover.

I was rather disappointed in this top coat. With it being a gel formula I was really expecting this to slow down the chipping of my polish but this just wasnt the case. Within 2 days I had started to show chipping and 4 days into my wear it had chipped to the point where I needed to remove my polish. I will say that the application is super easy it has 2 brushes on the end of the wand & the formula is quite thick so glides over the nail easily. The end result is a beautiful shine, its just a shame it did not last very long. I definitely wont be purchasing this again as I feel the price is just too high when more inexpensive brands do just as good a job.

I noticed this at my mums house and had to give it a go, I loved the idea of a gel top coat that would make my normal nail polish last alot longer.

I was disapointed though, Agter 2 days half my normal nail polish was already chiped off and i had to remove it completly and start again. My normal nail polih with no top coats normally lasts 2days so i was a little bummed that it didnt last any longer.

When applying the gel coat it slides on really easy, it feels a little thick but it still glides on realy nicley which I love about it. But since it doesnt last long i dont think i would bother useing it again.

I was given this along with a few polishes for christmas and was so excited to try my first gel nail polish. I never knew that Revlon did gel polish until I got this. I am sure that Revlon could have thought of a better design for their bottle though! It doesn't stand out from the crowd and in all honestly it I saw this in a shop I would walk past it without a second look back. Boring!!

Beyond the bottle I come across the brush and am grateful that the brush has more quality than the bottle itself. It fans out the entire width of my nails and makes sure I get even coverage and don't miss any spots. Usually I an get away with just one swipe but make it two coats to set that hearty wearing as firmly as I can. The smell is the normal smell of any other polish but with a lil bit more potency.

Two weeks down the line, five milkings, four fence shifts, and countless hours of being a mum and house wife and the nail polish is still standing strong! I am so impressed with its stay power. If course it has its scratches and is worn a tiny bit but after such jobs that is very impressive. I did find after minutes of rubbing it off with polish remover my nails were left brittle and damaged. One nail broke mere minutes afterwards and they were chipping. It was like the nail polish was holding them together and when it was removed so was the goodness in my nails. So disappointing after the good run I had with it.

Farmers had a sale on and I really wanted to get this Revlon Polish set . I thought about it for a day then went back to purchase this set. This pack has five colours in it. This Top Coat was in there too and that pretty much sealed the deal for me to try this out. I don't really buy Top Coats to be honest because I never really thought about it much until being on Beauty Review lots.

This clear coat comes in a black and white bottle with the Revlon labelling on it. I like how this bottle is designed . This brush has full thick bristles. The consistency of this polish is quite medium in thickness. This polish is clear and shinny. I did notice a normal chemical smell that most polishes have.

When I apply this polish to my nails it glides on perfectly. I like how shinny it makes my nails look. I put on about two coats of this polish to make my nails shiny.

My results from using this polish is that it made my nail polish underneath last me for about a week. I used all Revlon's gel nail polishes when I tried this. The shine from this top coat didn't last me any longer than two days max. But it did help my nails last.

I've gone through a number of topcoats in the past few years but this one takes the cake!

First off, the applicator. It has two brushes instead of the usual one and it makes it so much easier to use! It definitely helps with the application.

The staying power is a big plus too. I'm using this with my Mavala Geneve and it's only just started going nasty but then again, I've been shamefully wearing this nail polish for almost a fortnight and at that point, any nail polish needs to be removed anyhow.

The only negative point is I don't know how much is left in the bottle. Other than that? I give it two thumbs up!

I was gifted this top coat and a colour that goes with it for my Birthday and I was so excited to try it! I had heard great things about this top coat and that it was just like gel polish. I was a bit disappointed when I used it because after about 2 or three days it was chipping sooooo much, my nail polish and normal topcoat never chip and it's something I've never had a problem with until I used this product. BUT I've had a friend use it aswell and she swears by it. She also uses normal nail polish as the colour and not the colours that are specifically meant to go with the top coat and apparently it works fine. So I'm not sure about this one! Personally I don't like it but it works for some people! :)

I work with my hands everyday and prior to using this product, have never been able to last even a day without chipped polish on my hands. I purchased this top coat with a red Revlon gel polish and was absolutely amazed that together my nails lasted almost five days with barely any damage. I have not purchased any other gel shades, but I do whack this top coat on top of whatever other shades I am using and this definitely helps them to last longer than it would with any other top coat I have used. I do find that the shine provided by the top coat only lasts the day. In addition, I would probably experience less chipping if my nails were long enough that I was able to extend the polish along the free edge of the nail, as this helps seal the polish and prevent chipping. Will definitely repurchase the next time my chemist has a deal on their gel polishes!
