OPI Matte Top Coat

I was using Essie Matte About You until I bought this, and now it just sits on my shelf unused. Not because it's bad but because this is way way better! My favourite thing about this top coat is that the wide brush makes it easy to do almost the whole nail in one go. This is quite important with matte top coats because I have found that, generally, they dry pretty fast and so you don't have too much time trying to get it perfect. The downside is that if the polish underneath is not very close to dry, it will smudge it. Usually I would wait for a bit before applying a top coat anyway, so this doesn't bother me. If you're looking for a good matte top coat, I would definitely suggest this one. Don't waste your money buying a billion matte nail polishes when this does all the work for you ;P

I definitely need to experiment with this one! I did love the matte finish but i found it took off layers of polish underneath if i hadn't allowed enough drying time. It does fade very quickly but i found if you apply a normal topcoat it goes back to being a glossy nail. So no needing to fully take all your nail polish off if you are wanting to freshen it up.

I loved experimenting with this matte polish after receiving it as a birthday gift in the set with the glitter pigments. I would definitely use it again and love it over the top of a grey, black and navy colour. It was easy enough to apply but it does dry so quickly, if you haven't covered your entire nail then little shiny bits at the side are quite obvious! I'd definitely keep experimenting with this even with polka dots and leopard patterns or stripes.

I love the matte look and really wanted to try it on myself. It's quite a thin product and is fairly easy to apply. This review was after my first use so things may change as I get more experienced in application. For me this product had some pro's and cons. It definitely gives a great matte finish, provided you've covered your whole nail, so you don't get little shiny bits showing through. Cons for me is that it was really fast drying so if you did miss a bit of nail and had to touch up the finish became streaky. I also found it didn't wear particularly well, chipping within the first day. I'll be experimenting again with this product and will hopefully achieve a better finish next time.

The matte look has become quite popular. I love trying different nail looks, and I wasn't actually a fan of the matte look to begin with, but as it became more popular it grew on me and I decided to give this polish a try. I actually quite like this polish now. I am a big fan of opi polishes and this one doesn't disappoint.

This polish is easy to apply, the formula is smooth and you are able to apply the polish in three nice strokes for each nail (two for my pinkys). The polish applies without any streaking or bubbling and makes an even top coat surface. The "matte effect" actually happens quicker than you would think. You can see the magic happen within about five seconds as the polish begins to dry. And oddly enough the surface is very smooth and slippery, it feels like normal polish. I thought being matte the texture would change. I was also surprised at how matte the finish look ended up being as I only needed one coat and that was enough. This top coat lasts just as long as normal opi polish, which for me is 5-7 days without any chipping.

The brush is nice and big, just like a typical opi brush, and the bristles spread out nicely to cover polish all over your nail. The bottle is also the standard opi bottle, black lid but instead of a clear glass bottle the glass is misted to give the matte effect, which I think is pretty cool.

Overall, I really like this nail polish. The application is good, brush is easy to use, and it lasts a decent amount of time on your nails. I love how versatile the polish is, you can use it on any nail colour (although some colours work better than others) and it pretty much double your nail collection by giving you different looks.

Anyone who knows me will know how much of a huge OPI fan I am. When they bought out the Matte top coat I felt like I had just doubled my collection.

This matte top coat works really well. Goes on easily just like any other top coat and as it dries, goes matte. It actually dries quite fast too.

You really have to make sure you colour is layered up well, if you can see any part of natural nail through this it will enhance it and look like a rushed job.

It can dull down some of the brighter colours as well as it can lighten(grey up) the darks.

This lasts about a week before I see any wear or chipping

I liked the look of all the matte manicures on pinterest and couldnt resist giving it a try.

Don't get me wrong its an alright product, i wouldn't buzz about it but i don't think its the worst either. I dont suit the full matte manis, definitely not in a dark purple either but a matte blood red is pretty, and a matte french tip looks great on and was so easy to do.

Definitely not recommended for stay at home mums or women who use their hands a lot. It chipped as easily at it was applied. I do my nails at night once babies asleep and its all fine and dandy but by the end of the next day its chipped and so obvious too.

I guess if you're willing to experiment, try it but don't expect too much.

I got this as a free gift with purchase and found it didn't work that great for me. It looked awesome after the first application but after a few days the matte started to 'wear' off any my nails appeared a bit patchy. Parts of them were matte and other bits where the matte top coat had worn off looked quite gross.

I handle cash at work so found that probably contributed to the top coat wearing off. My nails scraping against the little compartments of the till drawers didn't help the longevity of the polish.

I actually really enjoyed this matte top coat. I got it as a free gift with purchase at famers last year and thought it would be quite interesting to try out. Sometimes you just a bit of a matte top coat in ya life.

It came in the normal little OPI bottle and black lid however if I remember correctly the bottle feels like frosted glass to represent the matte top coat.

It's so simple to use - paint your nails the colour you want then once dry apply the top coat on top and voila you have a matte mani! I really enjoyed using it. It was something a little different. I don't know if I would go as far as recommending it it wasn't a life changing product but it was fun to experiment and I will definitely use it again.
