Once again I'll begin with the gorgeous, luxurious packaging. Trilogy make high quality products and they look high quality too. This is a rich facial oil containing maqui berry, apricot and sea buckthorn which is high in omega 7. It says it is to "Repair and protect sensitive skin with pure plant oils that help to visibly smooth fine lines and wrinkles." I found this very oily even on my very dry skin, so one or two drops is more than enough. I also found I preferred to apply it just to the driest parts of my face, although it didn't cause any skin oiliness or breakouts to occur, I just wasn't a huge fan of the feel afterwards. It did soon mostly absorb though and I like to use it at night time every other night or when my skin needs an extra hydration boost. I love it as a body oil as I discovered when I had some residue on my hands and rubbed it up my arms. An expensive body oil though! The dropper is great and functional. It is certified organic, fragrance free and the natural light scent from the ingredients is pleasant and barely noticeable. I think I prefer just a rose hip oil for my skin but this is very luxurious for skin treats or when skin is very dry. I will keep trying it in different ways as I think there will definitely be times where I am grateful for this nourishing, restoring oil!

Tips: Use just a little, starting with one or two drops on fingertips and dab in areas that need a little extra. Or use on fine lines or scarring. It is also great to massage an excess left on fingers into cuticles!
I've used a lot of various facial oils before, including rosehip oil, chia seed oil, oil blends, and now this one. My skin type is sensitive, but underneath that it's also somewhat combination. Some days I look super oily and some days my face is perfectly oil tree (still investigating why) Then there's also the problem of acne that waxes and wanes. So I'm super careful about oil as I don't want to end up looking like a lightbulb.
The brown glass bottle protects the oil from any sun damage, and the dropper makes dispensing easy. It smells natural, how I imagine freshly pressed oil to smell. The oil is easy to spread and I find that two drops is enough for my whole face and neck area. I like to rub my palms together then press my warmed palms on my face to really help absorption. Afterwards, I do notice a slight oily looking sheen, but since I'm using this at night it doesn't really matter. After about 10 minutes I feel like 60% of it has absorbed, although if I press a blotting tissue to my cheeks I can still see smears of oil being sucked up. I wouldn't use this in the morning, because the oily layer floating on my face combined with the shine of sunscreen is a recipe for disaster. But if you have dry skin then this might be ok.
I didn't notice any major improvements in my skin's appearance, although it might've helped with replenishing moisture after me exposing my face to the harsh winter conditions. It claims to be good for sensitive skin and visibly improve fine lines/wrinkles. The former it definitely ticked, but the latter not so much. After more than a fortnight of using this, I can still see fine lines. I'll give it the benefit of doubt that this kind of stuff takes longer to show an effect, but I'd rather go for a more targeted approach.
I have used A LOT of face oils, cheap and expensive, trying to find one that not only hydrates my skin but doesn’t leave it feeling greasy. The restoring oil is this product!!! My skin is very temperamental; it can be incredibly dry and sensitive but also very prone to acne. So I worry that a heavy oil will break me out. However this light golden oil absorbs beautifully into my skin, like it’s made for it, to leave a lovely dewy glow without that oily feeling and I most definitely have not had a single breakout since using this, a big thing for me. Its light enough that it soaks into your skin and can been worn very well under makeup or add a bit more at night to get a real hydration boost. I found that any tired lines or dry patches on my skin were reduced, making my skin look plump and fresh. Incredibly happy with this product, the best oil I have used and it seems to be different from others on the market, will definitely be continuing to use this oil and have already recommended it to others. The restoring oil is a very fair price in my opinion. Like all the other products of the Trilogy Very Gentle range a little goes a long way. I have been using it morning and night for three weeks now and still have the majority of the bottle left. It comes in a dark amber bottle with an easy to use dropper that dispenses a great amount of product. The packaging fits very well with the entire range, exuding both elegance and quality.
Tips: Go with what your skin needs! I used the 2-3 drops as instructed to begin with but found that my skin just sucked it up, it wasn’t enough. I ended up using about 4-5 drops for my face, neck and décolletage area. However as time went on and my skin was more hydrated and didn’t need as much, now I’m back to using the suggested 2-3 drops. Add an extra amount to your lips at night to create a super hydrating and softening overnight lip mask, your lips will thank you in the morning!
I've tried the Very Gentle Restoring Oil as part of the Trilogy Sensitive Range review. All the products are amazing. I've never tried an oil before and I was a bit apprehensive with using it as I thought it would make my skin oily. Wrong! I used this in the morning after cleansing and used a few drops to massage into my face. It has a slight nutty fragrance. The oil absorbed quickly into my skin leaving it feeling really supple. Then I used the moisturiser. I think that the oil helps to keep my skin moisturised all day long. It is so gentle, I've even used it over my eyes. My sensitive skin has had no adverse effects. I would definitely try this product again
Tips: Use only a few drops after cleansing and before mosturising.
OMG I love this oil. I have used Rosehip and Argan oils in the past and although I like them, I didn't care for the scent. This oil is fragrance free and absorbs very quickly into the skin leaving it soft and smooth. I have 43 year old, very oily skin so am always careful about what extra hydration I add into my skincare regime. This oil will definitely be on my re-purchase list. The packaging of the whole range is lovely. This particular product comes in a brown frosted bottle with eye dropper applicator making it very easy to get just the right amount of product. I find it to be very soothing and hydrating and my skin is looking great!
Tips: Use around eyes for fine lines and wrinkles.
This Restoring Oil comes in a cool glass bottle with a dropper, which is quite dinky, unfortunately that is all I like about this product. I wanted to like it, but I found that this oil would just sit on the skin, and I felt like I was basting the Christmas dinner. I found there to be little to no absorption, and this made me want to take it off so I didn't transfer it to clothing. I feel this would be suited to extremely dry and mature skin, and it maybe good to use after a leg wax too. I just cannot get used to the slippery texture of an oil, and I prefer my skin to be instantly hydrated, not to have a product sit on the skin. Unfortunately this is my least favourite product from the Trilogy Sensitive range, I just can't like it. No scent, no irritation, I did not notice any calming, just a greasy oil I couldn't wait to take off.
Tips: You could try adding a drop to your body moisturiser for added moisture if you like the texture of an oil.
As Ive said with the whole range the packaging is top notch, and this with the eye dropper makes it so easy and stress free to use. The product doesn't come flying out of the dropper so it is easy to monitor how much product I am using. This soaks into my skin really fast, and is a perfect base for the rest of the products in the range. I love love love that it helps keep those fine lines at bay and protect my skin through the day, I have definitely been enjoying dewy glowy skin and I think this magical oil played a good role in that!!!!! I felt like this really delivered, and is a welcomed step in my routine every morning.
I'm a religious Skinfood Coc+Nut oil user but was keen to give this a go. I'm glad I did. This oil is thicker and has an odder smell than I am used to. It was a little off-putting but I persevered. Again, I'm glad I did.
Despite the thickness it was rapidly absorbed by skin and felt light on my face. The smell didn't last for too long, and while I still prefer the Skinfood oil smell, the extra 'goodness' in the Trilogy oil will see me make the switch.
The dark glass jar and the dropper are beautiful.
I also used this the way I do the Skinfood oil - multi-tasking and using it as cuticle oil, dry skin oil like on elbows and knees, and even mixed a little into my moisturising cream to save time. It is simple, effective, and as versatile as other beauty oils.
Tips: This oil is slightly thicker than others so you may feel you need to use more - don't be fooled!
This oil comes in a 30ml amber coloured glass bottle with a dropper. The instructions are to massage 2-3 drops onto the face after cleansing and before moisturising to reduce the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles.
The oil felt quite a lot oilier than other facial oils I regularly use and took longer than I expected to soak in. I used mainly at night because of this, and also that using 5-6 products one after the other takes lots of time. Maybe a preference thing and related to having more mature, (over 50) dry, sensitive skin?
Probably my least favourite of the products. In saying that something seems to have been working as I do think that the lines and wrinkles have decreased. Perhaps worth keeping up with it after all?
As with the other products in the range, there’s lots of natural goodies – antioxidants, nourishing & soothing ingredients that work well with sensitive skin, and I had no adverse reactions to this at all.
Tips: Go light on application and choose your areas that need extra repair- 2 drops was more than enough for me.
I received this restoring oil as part of the trilogy sensitive range trail team. I must admit this is my least favorite item from the product range. The oil comes in a nice glass bottle with a dropper which gives you better control on how much product you'd like to use. It is fragrance free and all natural. I found that 2 drops was more than enough for the face and neck but personally I found it to be a bit too oily and I have dry skin. I did not like the oily feel after using the product and was a little concerned that my skin might start to break out but thankfully that didn't happen.I prefer my face products (oils, serums and moisturizers) to get absorbed into my skin rather than leave the oily sheen. However my skin did feel nourished after using it but I didn't really see much difference with fine lines, but than again I don't think it is fair to comment on that just after using it for 3 weeks. A longer use might give better results in reducing fine lines. I think it is better to use this when your skin is really very dry and gone through some sort of damage,I wouldn't want to use it daily. Not a facial oil I would consider repurchasing.
Tips: Use sparingly on face and use any excess oil on your body.
