Along with hair care and hand and nail care, body scrubs are another of my favourite items. When I saw this in the May beauty vault I couldn’t resist. It looked cute and it sounded great.
The packaging is cute but the white resealable bag looks like something that would belong in the pantry. I love the way they have written up the directions and ingredients, its funky and fun and makes me want to use it. I also love companies that step outside the norm and are different.
So I take my ‘buddy’ to the shower and I take a spoon too, so I can scoop the scrub out. It says on the back to not get water in the bag so I thought using a spoon to dig it out would prevent wet hands and water getting inside the bag I also thought it would make less mess around the ziplock piece making it easier to close.
This brown sugar and sea salt scrub smells slightly chocolate minty. It is a reddy brown colour and just looks like brown sugar that has gone wrong. I start scrubbing it round my body in circular motions I love these types of body scrubs as having dry skin I rely on them to buff away all the dry patches and they just feel so good it’s like a wee wake up call to your skin. A couple of tablespoons is enough for my whole body and massage it around for a few minutes.. yes probably an overkill but it just feels so good.
I find the scrub really easy to wash away and doesn’t stick to the skin with it being brown I thought it may have stained my skin but lucky for me it doesn’t. it leaves a slight residue from the oils which my skin usually absorbs after a few hours. But it doesn’t feel gross and it is only a very slight layer of oil.
Overall this buddy is a damn good buddy and I will want to repurchase it once it runs out and maybe even try another scent.
I got the Raw Cacao Buddy Scrub in the last Beauty Vault.
What excited me about this product was that it was made with natural ingredients.
The buddy scrub comes in a white plastic ziplock bag. The description and the instructions are quite amusing to read, with their tantalizing description of the product with words like "so let’s start by getting you undressed and slowly exfoliating your dry skin with my sea salt and brown sugar". I thought it was quite a fun way to market their product.
The product inside dark and quite sandy looking, imagine what it would look like if you mixed brown sugar, cocoa powder and and flour. It's similar looking to that. When dry the buddy scrub smells like brown sugar and raw cacao.
When the product is wet however it smells like chocolate. The wet product does dissolve quite quickly into brown liquid, so you do need to scrub away quite quickly.
I used a little plastic container I had to transfer some product into before my shower so the bag went nowhere near the water.
After using the buddy scrub my skin did feel more moisturised and nice and soft.
It is a lovely product to use but a bit more fussy than the more gel like exfoliators and body scrubs. I would use it again, but I'd also buy other brands I've used before.
Tips: Do not get this product wet unless its on your skin.
