I scored this scrub from the Beauty Vault, which I was very excited as I LOVE cacao.
I have been trying to make a move to natural products, in particular fragrance-free products, so this one was a great score. The ingredients include yummy things like brown sugar, sea salt, sweet almond oil and orange peel oil. Nothing that I need a degree to understand! As a bonus, the packaging clearly shows that the product is cruelty free and vegan friendly.
Sadly I'm not enamoured with the packaging - a ziplock foil bag. I find ziplock IMPOSSIBLE with scrubs, as after the first use they won't close again, plus as far as I'm aware foil bags can't be recycled.
The scrub itself was a good texture - not too coarse - but the scent wasn't as strong as I had hoped. However I shouldn't judge too harshly as I think that is one downside of natural products - you forfeit the strong, lasting scent of parfum!
On the whole this scrub is a good option if you're looking for an ethical, fragrance-free body scrub, but not the right thing if you're looking for a strong chocolatey hit!
I've used a lotttttt of scrub options, and this is....fine. It's nothing exciting, it does the job, but I'm in no hurry to re-buy.
The packaging amuses me. It's crammed with innuendo, and lines like 'your friend with benefits' and 'carefully rip off my top' and ' it's time to get down and dirty. These appeal to me, and make me laugh in the shower in the morning, which is always nice.
The product looks like you could make cookies from it... it smells like that too! A caramelly brown shade, with sugar-type granules and a sweet vaguely chocolate scent make this quite aesthetically pleasing.
it's not super scrubby, super hydrating or super nourishing. Post use my skin feels clean, but not pampered. I don't like that it washes away brown, it kinda looks a bit gross.
It's fine, there's nothing wrong with it, but there are better options, especially for that price! It's all natural, cruelty free, and vegan friendly, so if you look for those options, that might appeal to you, but for me, it's one of those 'use it up and don't go looking for it' products...
Tips: I think there's one of these in the upcoming vault - could be a good way to try it if you're keen?
