First off a little about my skin so you know why what happened and you will also know if it applies to you. I've got oily combination skin, which means that across the cheeks, forehead and nose it is oily, and around all the other areas it is dry. So I have to be careful to balance out my skincare products to cater for each. The Goodness range had me super interested and when I won a full sized jar of their evening cream which claimed to have all natural ingredients that were blended for the goodness of your skin I thought it was going to be the best night cream.
The packaging of this product is cute, and from what I have seen the whole Goodness range has a cute, put together packaging theme that makes them highly desirable for me, being the pretty thing hunter that I am. Inside the outer box there is the rounded tub of cream in its' smoky brown semi opaque plastic with a large orange label slapped around it's body, complete with a black plastic screw lid. Also in the box with a lovely letter from the Goodness team about the product and social media outlets.
Formula wise this cream is quite thick, white with hardly no fragrance too it. It applies evenly but does take a well to absorb which worried me as I only put a small amount on, as you do with a new product, you don't' want to go too heavy handed as you don't know how the product will react with your skin. Even as I climbed into bed there was a greasy feeling and shine to my skin. Next morning as I rinsed my face I noticed that it had a film texture which I assume was from the moisturiser. Nothing happened that day or the next but on the 3rd day up popped a pimple and oddily not in the oily area, it was on an area of dry skin. I kept with the cream but decided to blot my face a little well after use to remove any unabsorbed excess. However the pimple got angrier and produced a couple of friends so I stopped using the cream. Started double cleansing for a week to detox my skin and haven't gone back to the pot of cream since. I feel it is too heavy for my skin.
This would suit someone who has dry skin to very dry skin as it is really thick.
I picked this up in a 'Try the Range' kit from Farmers, which was around $20 for the scrub, oil, lotion, cleanser and this night cream. I intentionally bought it for travel. I therefore have this product in a 25 ml sample size.
The Goodness Every Evening Cream comes in a brown glass jar with a soft orange label and a black plastic screw cap. This is fine, because as you apply it at night you generally have clean hands post cleansing of your face, and so my usual aversion to open product doesn't apply here.
The cream is a very thick white, and you only need a dot about the size of your pinky fingernail to cover your face. This product does not have the parsley-ish scent I noticed in the cleanser - it's a lot more subtle and neutral.
I actually rinsed this off my face the first time I used it because it felt ODD. It almost felt like my skin was absorbing it and plumping up instantly, and I didn't like it. I tried again though, and that sensation settles within ten minutes and skin starts to feel nice, smooth and hydrated. There isn't a greasy residue.
When I wake, my skin feels nice and hydrated - but I have had a couple of morning pimples (uncommon for me) since I started using this product. It's also coincided with stress and not so great eating, so I don't entirely blame the product, but I did notice it and wonder.
If it weren't for the odd post-application sensation this would have gotten a solid 4/5 from me - but I'm not a huge fan and am considering passing it on.
Tips: Definitely see if you can get the trial kit first x
