Underwhelming for such a pretty bottle

My main concern was my dark circles. Since they're not extremely dark I was hoping to see some change. I've been using this product for approximately 3 weeks (day and night) and unfortunately there has been little to no improvement.

The packaging definitely stands out on my vanity - a petit blue tinted glass bottle perfect for travel. It comes with a steel rollerball dropper, which for those who use facial tools may find fantastic, but for me it veered more towards the gimmicky side and not very practical.

To apply, you need to make sure you have just enough in your dropper so you don't dispense excess product unnecessarily (very easy to do). I only filled the dropper just above the rollerball and even that can still be too much because the consistency is watery and therefore spreads easily.

Using the rollerball, I massaged the product around the contours of my eyes. My biggest issue is that the product is not easily absorbed into the skin using just the rollerball, I need to use my fingers too. There's a slight stickiness left behind which is fine as I don't wear makeup under my eyes.

At first glance the price point is steep however you really don't need a lot - the problem is the application method is prone to product wastage. At this stage, I'm quite underwhelmed and I won't be recommending this unless I see some improvement in my dark circles.

Tips: Fill the dropper just above the rollerball - anymore than that and you're wasting product.

After massaging with rollerball, use your clean fingers to help your skin absorb the product properly.

La Roche Posay Hyalu B5

I was very excited about trying this one. Normally this would be over my budget. So was looking forward to seeing what a more expensive product was like. The first thing I noticed was the metal roller. When you use it to roll the product on, if you don't have enough product, it drags on your skin. It did this probably 75% of the 3 weeks I have been using it. It is also a firm pressure to roll it across. There was no scent, which was good as sometimes I get allergic to a lot of fragrances. When you put it on, it leaves a slight sticky feel to it once dry. I think it my skin under my eyes slightly hydrated. I don't think I would spend that money to buy it.

Tips: Use the roller to put product on finger to put under eye. Less drag on your skin

B5 eye serum

I haven't noticed any difference over all in my under eye area but I do like how it leaves my skin feeling right after and applying with the roller is very soothing. It does leave a not so pleasant residue on my skin like a face mask peel also.

Nice formula but didn’t like the applicator

I was lucky to receive this as part of a trial team. Like other La Roche Posay products I have tried the eye serums packaging was simple but sleek, I do like their style. The applicator was a droplet wand with a rollerball on the end, the idea being you squeeze a small amount of product into the wand, wipe off the excess and apply the serum to your skin.

Firstly, the positives. I do like a rollerball applicator and found it cooling against my skin, which helped with puffiness around my eyes in the morning. The serum itself didn’t appear to have much of a fragrance and was a lightweight liquid which felt very hydrating against the skin. I do agree the serum made my skin feel nourished and more radiant.

The downside? I really disliked the applicator. I felt like it took up too much product and even with wiping off the excess I still got drops of it coming off the wand and I felt it ended up using more serum than needed. I’m also not a fan of using the rollerball on my skin and then dipping it back into the remaining serum, it feels less hygienic to me.

I wouldn’t purchase this myself but if the applicator didn’t sound like an issue for you then the serum itself is nice enough and it is an affordable option for an eye product.

Tips: Make sure to wipe off excess before applying.

La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Serum

La Roche-Posay Hyalu B5 Serum is packaged in a small blue colored glass bottle, with a total of 15mls of product. The applicator is dropper style with the small silver metal ball on the end to roll over the eye area for a cooling effect. It is easy and convenient to use and I enjoyed using the applicator, the cooling effect was nice.

I found because of this nice cool ball that rolls over the eye I had the tendency to keep wanting to roll over the area, however the product is very sticky and too much product dispensed made the sickness far worst. I found it so sticky in fact, even when modified to use less product that my hair would stick to the area which I didn't like and I could feel it there on the skin, rather than it absorbing nicely.

As far as results go I didn't see anything to rave about. I would recommend my friends and family other products for a similar price point over this one, however I don't suffer dark under eye circles which is claims to improve.

Tips: Less is more, it's a tacky product!

Good product but hard to control

This product was something I was excited for as love the idea of cooling products for the eyes and am a huge fan of the cooling gel under eye patches.

Unfortunately that’s where a lot of my excitement for the product ends as I don’t feel like it’s any better then any of the other eye serum products on the market and I didn’t notice any huge difference in my under eyes.

That being said it’s a very nice consistency, the little ball is cooling but seems a little like a gimmick.

The product absorbs very quickly, does not leave any sticky residue and does not seem To react badly to any of my other products.

Pros - product absorbs really quickly - is not fragranced

Cons

- alot of product comes out of the dropper while your trying to apply it

It's cooling

Have been using this eye serum morning and night past couple weeks.

It has a little silver roller ball attached to the end of the stick instead a dropper.

One thing I will say is don't squeeze ( if you feel like nothing is coming out ) when you're in the middle of rolling under your eyes, it will drip out and down your face haha.

The little ball is nice and cooling under the eyes and a perfect wee massage for them. Then I just done a finger swipe under each eye, let dry then applied a moisturizer.

After these couple of weeks I haven't noticed any major change under or around eye area .

Very subtle brightening and hydration under eye though.

Tips: If you keep rubbing in the serum after rolling. It will become slightly sticky. Would suggest keeping it to a minimum and then letting dry before applying a face moisturizer .

La Roche Posay Hyalu B5 Eye Serum

1. The consistency of the product in my opinion was not too bad. Wasn't too thick or too thin, actually just right 2. The bottle is small, and the applicator is sturdy, I just did not like the ball like applicator at the end as the tube was not too sturdy, and I had to hold on too the tube to keep the ball applicator steady, once I did this it was fine too apply 3. I could not really smell anything 4. You really only need a little bit of the product at a time around the area of the eye you are busy with 6. If you use a little product at a time I think the product would last a long time 8. Like the box that it came in, the bottle was small, but a good material and the applicator wasn't bad either 9. I can definitely see some results, maybe not as some people, but it definitely reduced the puffiness around my eyes and the wrinkles around my eye area is definitely less defined

Tips: Would use as little as you can of the product at a time around the area you are using it on. A little really goes a long way.

Better than I expected

I was pleasantly surprised by this product. It isn't something I would choose to purchase normally and the price is one I wouldn't usually think could be justified. Being in my mid 40s, puffy, tired eyes with fine lines goes with the territory. Add in allergies and some late nights and there are some definite under eye bags going on! I wasn't expecting this product would do much more than feel soothing under my eyes. But I was surprised to notice after using for around a week, that my eye area was looking less puffy and fine lines were maybe less noticeable. Unfortunately it hasn't helped with black circles but it doesn't claim to. I am not sure that it is a huge difference but it is enough that I noticed it which is great!

It is very nicely packaged and the packaging makes the product feel luxurious. The blue bottle is a nice touch. I did find the product felt very thin and runny. The dropper does help with applying such a thin product though. The product does stay where it's placed which is good too. I did find it felt sticky under my eye and dried feeling a bit sticky. It wasn't too bad but it was a little off putting. Applying a thinner layer seemed to help.

The size of the bottle seems very small for the price but I think it would actually last quite a long time as a small amount is used and it doesn't need to be applied very thickly. This would make it very good value for money.

I did notice my makeup (eg concealer under eye and foundation) was easier to apply when it was on, which was great. I was using it morning and night and still would expect the bottle should last quite a while.

Definitely a nice surprise for me and even though it seems expensive, I would consider getting another bottle once this one is finished.

Tips: Don't need to apply thickly - a thin layer is good and less likely to dry to be sticky

Apply before makeup, to make makeup application easier

Review LRPH B5 Eye Serum

Really like this eye serum, However it's not a favourite, It does moisturize really well, I did notice a difference my dark circles became lighter, The only down side about this little gem, It takes awhile for the serum to soak into your skin, apart from that its amazing 😍 I'll post another review in a week's time hopefully I really see the difference. Love it 😍
