I have been an Olay fan since way back in the '80s when it was called "oil of ulay". So when I saw that Olay was now offering a Retinol product I jumped at the chance to try this. Unfortunately, I was a bit disapointed. I am a regular Vitamin A user so I had none of the normal reactions that one usually experiences such as tingling, redness or peeling. The formula is smooth and easy to apply. There is no perfume and it was easily absorbed into the skin. After three weeks, however, I saw no visible improvement other than my skin was well hydrated. I think for what you pay, it's worth shopping around.

Tips: This could be a good starter product for people who have not tried Retinol products before. It was very gentle and hydrating.
I was really excited to try this product given it's claim to reduce fine lines and wrinkles in 28 days. However I have been using the serum for over a month now (although I did only use it twice a week to start with rather than daily, to check for reactions) and have not seen any noticeable improvement. To be honest I think my forehead wrinkles may have even got worst (or maybe I'm just looking at them much harder hoping they will disappear)!
The product bottle is a nice shape which is easy to hold and use. I love how the dropper is engineered to engage as you screw the cap on. The dropper makes it easy to disperse small amounts of product across the face. The serum is white with a nice creamy texture and a light pleasant scent. It seems to settle quickly like a liquid-to-powder foundation, leaving the skin feeling very smooth and velvety.
However, come the morning I would find that I had a kind of oil slick across my forehead. I have oily skin and have had similar experiences with other serums so I wasn't super surprised by this. What was unpleasant though was inadvertently rubbing my eyes in the morning and them stinging presumably because I was getting product in them. I found that I had to wash my face almost immediately every morning to avoid my eyes getting agitated. This makes it seem like the product isn't absorbing properly and maybe that's why I'm not seeing the results I expect?
On a more positive note - I have sensitive skin and haven't had any kind of skin reaction which is great. I did notice that my skin appears brighter and more radiant so that claim does stick. Maybe if I had dryer skin the dewy look would be more appealing, but in reality I was hoping for this product to reduce my forehead wrinkles and it hasn't delivered on that so far. I will keep using the serum until the bottle is finished, then consider whether it's worth investing in more if I can see a noticeable difference by then. Fingers crossed!
Tips: Lean backwards if applying to your neck - otherwise you will end up dropping it on your top (or maybe I'm just uncoordinated!)
The serum arrived in a well packaged Red and silver Olay colours box, understandable as the dropper and the holder is pretty well protector - I hv not been able to establish if its glass or some kind of luxury plastic.
I followed the BR directions and only applied every second day in the first week, after doing the patch test (no reaction), and found my skin had a bit of a tingle. Nothing alerting just the normal serum tickle, I have had used other products in the past that was definitely more tingly. I used my night moisturiser with this product.
The dropper itself took a bit of figuring out - as the pump part pops up when unscrewing the cap. You then give it a quick pump to draw the liquid into the dropper. I then drop this on the back of my hand and apply to my face. The liquid is bit thicker and does stay on the back of my hand (found other products would just run of and wasted a lot), however I found that I had to use a bit more to cover my face and neck than the dropper allows.
Easily spreadable and ease of use, which I liked. I have been using the product for 3 weeks now and have seen a bit of improvement in my skin. If this is due to no air conditioning, make up or office environment, or if its the Retinol 24 night serum I am not able to tell, however I will keep on using the product due to the easy way one can apply it.
At around $42 I am not sure it is affordable. I have less expensive serums that work just as well, however Olay states you will see a difference after 28 days of continuous use so I have another week to go.
Tips: Really easy to use - dropper is great and no wastage of this product
Ok so I like retinol in skincare because it's backed by science. I feel like my results with this were not as good as I had hoped. My favourite product which is both expired and hard to get makes some of my lines & wrinkles almost disappear. After using it less frequently and then switching to the Olay the frown lines above my nose came back which was not nice to see. Then towards the end of the trial they seemed to be improving. Things have to get worse before they get better but I'm just not too sure in this one. Lines on my forehead have reappeared too. The design of the product - I was trying to twist the top part trying to figure it out with no luck then saw you had to unscrew the base of the lid. It's like a syringe pump dropper. I don't know how much retinol is in this product bit I would like to know. The serum is white and it feels as it a little goes a long way and quite hydrating but as far as the results on lines and things I'm not very impressed. I will use it up and see how I go but so far it's not won me over I'm still on the hunt for my holy grail.
Olay Regenerist Retinol24 is a product I really wish I'd stumbled upon during my first foray into retinol around six-ish months ago. There are so many products available at varying strengths and price points that it felt pretty overwhelming trying to decide what would work for my skin without turning it into a complete disaster. This stuff is foolproof. My skin usually makes me pay for adding, subtracting or just making any tiiiiiiiiny tweak to actives in my regimen but this stuff had no negative effects being added in which I think is in part thanks to the serum having absolutely no noticeable scent (no nasty dyes either!) and absorbing beautifully without leaving a strange texture on the skin surface. The bottle is heavy for its size, I like this because it feels like the precious retinol inside is well protected from light, air and clumsiness. The dropper built into the lid is genius! it draws up the PERFECT amount of product so I never use more than I need to or not enough. I didn't notice a huge difference in the appearance of my skin texture or brightness which I didn't really expect having already been using retinol, I do think this did a fantastic job at maintaining what I've already achieved though which is excellent. Would I repurchase this? yes, if I saw it on sale for a good price I'd definitely grab a bottle for myself and I'll be encouraging friends/family just starting out with retinol to give this a try.
Tips: Retinol is an "active" so it's suuuuuuper important you check it won't have any negative interactions with your current products!
The product comes in an attractive easy to use dispensing bottle and it dispenses enough for a good application. I loved that the product was scent free and that would definitely be high on my list of reasons to buy again as it is difficult to find products that don’t overwhelm in the scent department.
I went slowly and cautiously as advised since I have never used retinol before but I had zero issues even though I can have temperamental skin. I made sure I used sunscreen the next day as advised and this helped form a habit I should have anyway lol
Did it do what it said - I think with longer use it will. I know my skin feels amazing when I use it - I only have fine lines so there wouldn’t hopefully be a huge difference but I do think my skin felt more resilient than it has.
This isn’t a quick fix but I would rather slow and steady as there is no magic formula for aging ….. without Botox lol definitely give it a try
Excited to try and once I figured out how to use it I was off! Lets start with the packaging. Very limited in what it said or even stating the % of Retinol which made me dubious of it's claims. The retinol was far down on the list of ingredients so I knew it was low. No mention of the importanceof sun avoidance either on the box. If I was a customer reading the box instore if deciding to buy I would have returned it to the shelf. The bottle itself looked luxurious, innovative and a lovely item to have on display in your bathroom. I found it hard to understand the instructions on how to open and use but once I mastered it was quite easy. I like how it is very simple to use only the dosage suggested. The product went on very easily, felt smooth, light and non greasy but enough to leave my skin feeling nourished at night. The first morning after application I noticed an instant result. My skin when washing felt really soft and supple. This continued every day and this is my favourite part I love how smooth my skin is feeling. It has a moist glow about it and feels really soft and my makeup is gliding on wonderfully. Have I seen any visible results? Not really. I have noticed some slight dry patches starting to occur around my hairline but not enough to see just feel. I believe this can happen when using retinoids but it wasn't enough for me to worry. I am not sure if I could use around my eyes so I avoided the area. Would I use again? Yes I liked how it makes my skin feel. I really feel the instructions need to be clearer even a little pamphlet inside the box.
Tips: When using retinol you have to avoid the sun and make sure you have a sun block each day. It doesn't really stress this enough just avoid the sun.
I really like using this serum, love the way it makes my face feel really soft and it has definitely lightened the dark ageing spots on my cheeks. I will definitely keep using it and also thinking of buying the other products that will work well with it..
Tips: Remember to use a sunscreen in the morning and I also think using an Olay day moisturiser would be more beneficial.
It had been a while for me to try the Retinol products because all I can remember from last encounter was "Dryness" and "stingy sensation" - this product has changed my mind completely. Olay facial serum was truly mild and hydrates. I also loved the fragrance-free element of this and the fact that the serum has the automated dosage control too - so that I don't under/over use the product. I felt like my pores got shorter, from 0 shape to o shape - but did not notice significant difference in some fine wrinkle areas that I was keeping on eye on. It did keep my face smooth and hydrated for the evening, but not sure if it continued the next day.
Tips: I tried keeping my face cool with cotton pads soaked in toners after serum. I found it refreshing and felt like it helped with the serum on my face.
The packaging was nice to look at, Silver and Deep Red, although was similar packaging to other brands. The bottle itself was very nice to look at, a shimmery blue/purple bottle with silver lid. The lid acted as a dispenser as well. I twisted the lid to semi open it, then pressed the top down, then twisted the lid off. I then pressed the top which dispensed the Night Serum onto my hands.
I used the product every two to three days for the period I had the product. I didn't have any issues with using it, no reactions at all.
I did not notice any changes in my skin at all. No difference in my fine lines or wrinkles, no reduction in redness or dark spots. And it didn't hydrate me for long either. I still needed to use my moisturiser at night and morning. Some mornings I would have to clean my face as there was a residue on it.
Unfortunately I would not be recommending this product.
