I absolutely love this palette, the shadowy are buttery and blend beautifully. The colour payoff is amazing too and really makes green eyes pop. I use my fix plus to deepen the colours and the look good wet or dry although a primer is a good idea with the darker colours. Packaging is quite pretty but could be better than card for the price. All in all for the shadows, smudge stick and ideas book this is great value.

Tips: Use a primer :)
I love these palettes and would highly recommend them; though with the warning that you will want to own the entire collection. The colours all really complement each other in each and are rather inspiring. They also come with a booklet of looks as well.
This is such a beautiful palette! The colours are so pigmented & with a primer they last all day! Even in summer :D Most of the shades are shimmery, so if you love shimmery this is definitely for you!
You can do quite a few different looks with this, so is good for both day & night! Purple smokey eyes for the win!
Tips: Use a Primer
A while ago I joined some friends doing a wee challenge of wearing a different colour makeup each day. When it got to the day we were trying purple all I could find was my Lime Crime lippy... not great for work. So with that telling me I needed some purple eyeshadow, and BR Elena saying these Stila 'In the' palettes were awesome this went straight on my wishlist. The makeup buying gods were on my side and when beautybay had a sale with this being AUD$36.90 I just went for it.
The packaging for this is nice, but nothing fancy. If I'm honest it is kind of cheap. Cardboard purple packaging that feels a bit flimsy. I won't be travelling with this palette that is for sure. Around the shadows there is a bit of foam that is covered by the cardboard. I do like that they include a eyeliner in this rather than a brush. So practical. It seems like this packaging is much bigger than it needs to be, there is a lot of space in between the shadows.
The redeeming grace of this product is the shadows, they are great. I bought this because I wanted some purple eyeshadow shades and there are some beautiful ones in here. Do be warned that only one shadow is matte. The best part of this is that as well as the purple shades there are some great more neutral shades, browns golds etc. These are fantastic as it makes the purple shades much easier to use. I have started popping just a bit of the light purple in the inner corner or the dark purple in the crease. It creates a really nice look but still quite subtle and means that it isn't too far out of my usual 'eyeshadow look' box. The shadows are quite buttery and pigmented. The colour payoff is really nice and they last quite well, I haven't had any particular problems with creasing etc.
If I had paid more for this I think I would be disappointed by the cheap packaging, but for the price and because of the outstanding quality of the shadows I am really impressed.
I bought this palette when I was in Hawaii last year and it's safe to say I don't regret buying it! I chose this palette because it had a row of purple toned colours at the top and a row of neutral/ brown colours on the bottom. Each row of shadows can be used to compliment each other on their own or you can mix and match the browns and purples to give more dimension to your eye look!
Personally, my favourite colours are on the bottom row as I wear brown eyeshadows on a day to day basis! My favourite colour in particular is spontaneous, a shimmery beige/gold which looks amazing on tanned skin!
Overall the pigmentation is very good and the shadows are very buttery. The only shadow I dislike is "catalyst" which is black with a magenta sparkle through it. I would have preferred a matte black or matte dark purple instead because I find the shimmer in this to be a little coarser (not as finely milled) as their other shimmery shadows.
One thing to note is that this palette would not be great for people who love matte shadows as there is only one matte shadow out of the 12 in the palette. However, as I love a bit of shimmer on my eyelids this hasn't bothered me and if I do need matte shadows I have other palettes that meet my needs! :P
Also, I forgot to mention, it comes with a smudge stick waterproof eyeliner in "tetra" which is a gorgeous deep purple with with shimmer. I often wear it on the waterline when I'm wearing brown shadows to add a little pop of colour!
Tips: These shadows are fairly long lasting on their own but a primer underneath does wonders! The NYX jumbo eye pencil in milk works as a great, affordable base!
This is the second Stila 'in the' palette that I have bought. The other one I have is in the moment which I think is the most popular and really is such a great palette to own. I bought this because I love purple eyeshadow and because I wanted to own more Stila items.
The packaging of this isn't too amazing. It's a cardboard package which feels on the cheap side and there is not even a mirror. It's a pretty purple colour though, I like the sheen to it.
You get 10 shades of eyshadow in this plus an eyeliner. I have no idea where I have put the liner but I think it was fine to use, nothing that stood out to me as amazing but I like palettes to have extra things other than sponge tip applicators! The colours of this at first glance are very beautiful. You get a few purples plus some bronzes and gold. Once you have a good look though, you realise that it is hard to do a full eye look with this combination. First off, there is only one matte shade and it's a light skin tone shade with barely any pigment. The darkest shade can come off as matte on the eye but it is a lot darker than what I'd want to put in my crease for a day to day look. I've been incorporating an all matte palette to help me be able to use this palette more which I suppose isn't the end of the world but I am the type of person who likes one palette to do it all. I can also forgive that if the colours are amazing. Honeslty, I'm very unimpressed though. I just don't find the pigment to be that great at all. They finger swatch nicely but I don't find brushes pick up the shadow very well at all. I've tried the gold wet, and even that wasn't too great. They are also quite dry in the pan. The only soft and buttery shade in mine is instinct which is a very intensly frosted off white, it's a really nice shade for the inner eye. I love the bronzed shade, whim, but the rest I'm not fussed about at all. They last ok on my eye, they are still there at the end of the day but a bit faded. I also have a little trouble blending them, even with my sigma e35 which usually blends out anything in about 3 seconds.
My palette is less than a year old too, so I can't even blame it being super old for being so bad. Possibly I just got a bad palette. I see other people love these but I could never recommend this one.
I recently purchased this palette from beauty bay after hearing such great reviews of Stila eye-shadows in general and I am not disappointed. This palette has a row of lovely purple toned shadows on top and a row of just as lovely brown neutrals on the bottom. This palette also comes with a smudge stick waterproof eyeliner in Tetra (purple) which I love as much as the palette
The packaging isn't anything special and not very travel friendly simply in-cased in a cardboard package with a magnetic closer (the eyeliner is also a mission to get out, without tipping the palette upside down). This palette also doesn't have a mirror like most high end palettes, which I don't have an issue with but is worth mentioning.
Some of the shades don't seem to come off on my eyes the way they look in the pan (whether that's the actual tone or whether the shimmer shows) so here's my take on the shades (on myself)
Instinct - a pearly white/cream which is a perfect (but intense) highlight shade (frosty finish)
Impulse - a gorgeous pale lavender shade (frosty finish)
Glance - a cool, medium-toned purple shade (satin finish)
Improvise - a dark plum shade with with magenta micro-glitter (matte finish)
Catalyst - a dark black with magenta micro-glitter (matte finish)
Desire - a light peach, which for me is a great match for my natural skin tone making it great for blending out other shades (matte finish)
Wonder - a warm pinky tan shade (satin finish)
Spontaneous - a warm copper shade (shimmer finish) - It looks gold in the pan but doesn't come off that way on my eye
Whim - a warm, medium-toned brown (shimmer finish)
Captivate - a cool toned dark brown with brown gold micro-glitter (satin finish)
I have found most of the shades above beautifully pigmented, buttery and easy to blend. Even though a lot of the shades have shimmer or micro glitter (with a primer) I have not had any issues with fallout. I find the shadows to be long lasting and think this palette is great for those who love neutrals but sometimes like to mix it up with a pop of colour.
I haven't tried this wet yet as I find the shades to be intense enough at the moment (but maybe if I 'grow a pair' haha I might give it a go), but have read this produces more intense results.
I think this palette is a pretty good deal when you take into account the fantastic eyeliner and quality shadows you are getting :)
