I was given a small sample bottle of Black Opium at Farmers and I LOVE it! I have been looking for a fragrance that makes me feel confident and sexy on a night out and this is it!
It is sexy, sweet, seductive and warm all in one! I have been using the same perfume for years and have only just started looking for something a little more 'grown up' but something that i still love the smell of and feel sexy and feminine in! Something that I can spritz on myself as the final touch to a perfect outfit!
My partner loved it and commented on how sexy I smelt every time I wore it and has promised to get me a bottle for my upcoming birthday and I cannot wait!
I am drawn the the delicious vanilla smell of it mixed with a hint of coffee and a floral undertone, it is such a treat to my nostrils! When I wear it, I just feel like a movie star - like that is what a movie star would wear on the red carpet!
I received a sample of this at Myers in Australia. Personally I cannot find any resemblance to the original Opium in this fragrance whatsoever. To me this scent smells like a love child of Black XS, Flower Bomb and Jovan Black musk. A fruity-patchouli. I was worried when I saw coffee mentioned as a note as personally I don't want to smell like a beverage but I didn't notice it. I did get some berry notes, leather/suede, burnt sugar and patchouli but nothing wowed me about this. The bottle on display was also covered in glitter which personally I found quite tacky. I would have expected that this may have had a more oriental base hence it's association with the original but like the Belle variant which was released a couple of years ago this is a completely different scent geared towards a modern audience. Too overwhelmingly sweet and burnt sugar smelling for my nose. If you delve in expecting a scent like the original opium you are bound to be disappointed.
