Trying to be more money conscious this year but want to get myself a treat every month. Are monthly beauty subscription boxes still a thing? There were big a few years ago. If they are how much and would you recommend?

there are a lot of compnies doing these so yes I think they are a thing. I would google reviews and soo which seems to suit you best and fits your budget at same time.

I'm going to be more money conscious too. Especially not buying stuff I don't need, using what I already have, and reducing the amount of 'things' I own. I'd love to do Swedish Death Cleaning but it'd have to be a slow process!

I would say affordable?? I was looking at my Lust Have It hauls and miss the subscription. So many good little bits to try.

Swedish death cleaning, generally familiar with the term but will have to look it up.

My mum passed unexpectedly last year, so have done a lot of cleaning out in all areas of my life. It's productive and atleast I have kept the things that actually have value to me. Over consumerism was quite a lot last year. Looking to make things simpler but still bring joy.

Sorry to hear about your mum tabucutie-What and aweful 2023. I had to sort my Mum's stuff when she passed and it is such a personal journey. It does make you look at yourself too .I also cut down on a lot of spending too after this and found I worry less about things and so much more about family.Make 2024 yours and value yourselfXX

The Swedish death cleaning sounds a bit pessimistic.I know we are all going to die but I am not sure I would get too hung up on it.I prefer the idea of sorting out you junk so you live in a less stressful environment.

Maree, Swedish death cleaning! What a blast, I saw that on the tele, really inspired me. Also Marie Kondo, I am on a major clean, sort and organized mission! I am loving every minute of it to be honest. And talk about not spending money!! Well, I listened to an audio book, A life less throwaway. Definitely worth a read or listen!! You won't regret it

That sounds amazing Kimmie. I love the idea of living with the barest minimum and that's what I'm working towards. I did buy 2 sweatshirts I don't need this week though (full disclosure!)

Lush does monthly subscription boxes. It's supposed to be a mix of bath, shower, and skincare products, however, I have a feeling it'll be mostly bath products. Which can be a good thing or bad thing depending on if you like taking lots of baths and don't mind cleaning the tub. There is a skip option to skip a month if you don't fancy the products in the sneak peak.

Lush shops seem to have died out a lot .I didn't realise they were still operating in NZ

Kimrose I am also more of a minimum person and really have always liked less is more approach . I think you need to do it for yourself not for when you are no longer here.

Definitely still look at Bellabox NZ, I've had their subscription for about 3 years now @$25 per month. There's lots of interesting products to try often ones you don't see much here (it's from Australia) and some beauty tools sometimes too. You can pause for up to 3 months as well.

I just looked and subscription doesn't seem available for lush at the moment. They do still have their boxing day clearance sale which has peaked my interest.

Look up My Treat, they do monthly boxes too. Never had one I just got a random email so I must have looked at it at some point.

The Lush one is available. It's under the 'kitchen subscription box' tab. It's $75aus plus delivery. I personally think you'd be better off grabbing things from the Boxing Day sale to try.

Just another thought, if you're wanting to be more concious with your spending, why not set a budget and buy yourself a treat once a month at Mecca and get something you really want to try. Subscription boxes can be really random and you might not actually use everything in them. Then once you've reached the $300 threshold at Mecca, you'll receive the beauty loop boxes and bonuses they offer through out the year.

SHES BACK MONTHLY SUBSCRIPTION shesback.co.nz
Instagram shesbacknz
Shes Back is a monthly subscription box here in nz and I have been getting it for a couple years now it gives you the option of pads or tampons each month and they are amazing quality. You get a mix of skincare, makeup and hair care in every box. The packaging is fantastic the products are always great, I never have to buy skincare unless I want to and I share a box with my daughter and it's roughly $50 a month.
Lisa the owner is amazing to deal with and I love the work she has done to help girls and women know that periods shouldn't be a taboo topic and has made it about looking after yourself and doing things to make yourself feel soo good around this time of month.
Definitely worth checking out!

I completely forgot about this and it's now June. No I didn't. Have been more focused on trying to spend less. Skincare still a non negotiable so buying when I need to. Have bought a mascara and re purchased two glitter liners. That has been about it. Until...

Today! The Farmers beauty bag was still available. I missed out the last time and was holding off buying one but did it today. Had to spend $50 on beauty and was then eligible to purchase the beauty bag at $70. $423ish in value. The whipped boy wash was buy one get one half price so picked up that $45. Then found a gwp I wanted so bought a hair treatment.
