Clumping eyelashes when applying mascara

My eye lashes are not playing ball this week. I have never had to comb them and my technique of applying mascara has not changed. But once I've applied my mascara, my lashes are perfectly separated and then out of nowhere, decide to clump together.
I have not changed the brand I use, and only opened the mascara a couple weeks back. 
But this week..... face palm

That's annoying Whittakers-lover. That's one of the reasons I avoid mascara. The other is that I rub my eyes and I end up looking like Herman Munster!!

I find these days mascara doesnt clump. Pergaps give the brush a good clean with make up remover and try again ?

I have found the MCO beauty tubing mascara and love it! I have had the classic Herman munster look on many occasions but never with this. 
Do more than exist
