I just did my review for the VS dryer, and had to edit it several times to get it under the 3000 character limit :S Haha who else has gotten a bit wordy in their reviews and had to cut things down?

This happens to me all the time! Especially if I'm writing a review for multiple products eg a brush collection or MAC Lipsticks or OPI Nail Polishes etc. But I kind of think when it gets to that point am I being as succinct as I should be, or am I rambling? Usually I can cut it down. If not I pop some in to the tips section :P

I'm pretty good at concise comments, usually kirstyj! (being a teacher = used to it) but I can't shut up about this one hehe

I didn't know either until tonight Shaz haha. Thanks! My makeup game was on point on Sat so I took a few pics so I could remember what I'd done, but the light in this one was cool (even though you can't see the makeup) and I liked it better hehe

Darn you Trudi! I'm trying to not buy that hair dryer - hubby laughed at me when I said I wanted it and asked when I ever used a hair dryer. I know I don't, but maybe I would if I had an awesome one like that!!

Haha it's necessary for the baby, isn't it? :p Your husband certainly is in no position to assess hairdryer needs :P

I didn't know there was a character limit! I'd better shorten down my Color Tattoo review to fit all of the shades in.

yes I've had to shorten quite a few reviews because they went passed the limit, sometimes I just can't rave about a product enough x

I had no idea about the character limit either. I'm impressed that you ladies managed to go over it, 3000 sounds like a lot! Maybe that should be one of my BR goals, hehe.

Good on you Trudi! Honestly I have never had that happen to me before and I have been on here for over a year, some beauty reviewers are gifted at writing amazingly long reviews without it being boring just like you have with your VS Sassoon drying review, well done! There are some BR on here that I could read their reviews all day! Kellie is my all time favourite :D

Lutece! I just got up after being poked and prodded by my daughter for three hours (and of course she's gone back to sleep, ha) in a really bad moooooood. And you've made it all better!!  xxx

I have had this happen a couple of times only products that I really love and want to rave about !!! .... have to curb some unnecessary raving :)

I can't say I've had that problem before because I'm more of a reader than a writer... but apparently the "Tips" section doesn't have a limit (I could be wrong, but I saw another BR member mention it) so you could post the rest of your review in that section xx

yup I've been there! Normally with products I'm extremely passionate about, or ones like palettes which have many factors to go over.

Kellie you voice, your smile, your writing is out of this world, You rock this show lady! I hope you were able to get a little nap today <3
hahaha in real life I have too much to say but I actually struggle when it comes to my reviews.  I can be quite factual so elaborating and not being so black and white can be a struggle  :-)

Aww thanks Lutece, I was writing it thinking 'omg this is SO long, I have to try and make it interesting' then I started to stress out that the jokey comments were cheesy lol.

and just did it again with the Maybelline palette.  I'm wondering if the coveted trials are the ones I feel like I need to say more on, maybe?  Hmmmm

I had this happen to me for the first time today! I was weirdly stoked, until I realised just how much of my review I had to chop out to get under 3000 :/ sometimes you just have a lot to say about a product!

i know... i just want to cover every single point when I'm reviewing something awesome, in high demand, or that i know people have questions about.  I have some reviews where i can cover it in a paragraph, and some where i coul dkeep going for pages lol

I haven't done that on a product yet but I did a salon review and had to do a major chop.

Yes I've had it happen quite a few times.. I find it's when I really love a product and I get so involved with my writing. It happened just recently on the Olay brush review :-)

Man I really wanted that one! They didn't have it so I ended up with a Nivea one that was free when you buy 2 products or $20 without. Love how it's worked so far and thinking of buying a more expensive one as that must mean it's way better??

where did you get the nivea one from, hon?

The warehouse. It's a battery powered one. Has 2 brush heads and 2 sponge type pad heads. Man it gets the gunk out really good. I've used trilogy cleanser, bossy cleanser and a temple tonic one. Works so well with all. Oh and the bossy clay bar as well

hmmm maybe i'll start there then.  If you get two products and that then it sounds like a good starting place to me!

Oh my gosh I didn't realism I wasn't the only one who did this. I'm always havung to chop my reviews down lol. Too much to say in the right kind of way

The Olay brush comes with one head but is great it's removed these tiny bumps I had on my jawline. However the Nivea sounds better equipped with two assorted brush heads yayyy. In the USA the Olay brush comes with 2 brush heads. I found cleansing the brush with the bossy cleanser gets it as new.

Yep it happens alot you just get caught up in the description and want to express every area of the product review that you hit that 3000 character.  Most of the time I do my reviews outside on Word then scan in, only to find it won't fit, then it's a frustrating few moments re-reading and wondering what to cut out, or what can be re-worded better and shorter to allow the review to get onto the site under the limit.

I never knew there was a character limit on reviews so this is good to know. I've never had to cut a review down but can see how easily it could be done, when you have a product that is super amazing its worth the rave :)

I've got a brush set review and a load of makeup reviews to do this week, it's going to keep me busy!

For all you long winded people out there you might find this handy :)

I have to say this is never an issue for me. I'm used to having to fit strict word counts as part of my job. I'm also usually under time pressure to write which helps.
