Super simple tonight after returning to work post-break: Louisiana tenders, the second half of this mornings perfect avocado and a salad of spinach, parmesan, pear, cucumber and balsamic

Those Louisiana tenders really are great! We went to the pub for tea, it was actually good. We shared loaded wedges, corn fritters, garlic bread and chicken tenders with a huge jug of cider :-)

Ened up with a tooth pulled so generally diet has been lacklustre..lol. Dinner was rice with kebab meat. As I post this breakfast is another smoothie, which will be followed by scrambled eggs for lunch.

ouch tabu - hope it heals fast.

Lisa they're so so good, I'm so obsessed with them at the moment!  That mid week pub situation sounds pretty epic too :)

Have you tried the other? Is it Nashville chicken?
Yea it is like a pub/bistro. No restaurants here so the only place to go plus it's a 1 minute walk lol.

is that the bone-in one?  I don't like bones in my chicken, i'm super fussy about it haha

I think the Nashville is both tenders and boned. Maybe it's spicy?

ooh well in that case, if I can find tenders i'll try it! :)

I'm not disclosing tonight's tea due to shame. I have shingles and stage 4 EBV and my liver isn't very good so I'm vowing to do a whole lot better! But I've been feeling sore and lousy so I don't have much resistance to sweet things ...

We had potato salad, salsa and chicken (he had squid and a sossig instead of chicken) and my god it was filling. Have definitely had my 5+ a day haha

also tried the golden oreos, taste like superwines if they were oreos lol

i just had 'use stuff up' pasta last night.... ended up with rigatoni with pesto, lemon, ham, mozzarella, feta, pinenuts, spinach and zucchini.  Wasn't bad actually!

Can I please request that we stop with posts that are 'bad food' vs 'good food' and stick to sharing recipes, meal inspo and food chat?  As someone who has struggled in the past with a self-starve ED it's really triggering to see people talk about food like that.

Ouch, Maree.  I feel your pain.  Having shingles is horrible, I had them/it over Christmas & New Year 2010/2011 and still have painful shingles related neuralgia flare-ups a few times each year (had one earlier this week).

Having that combined with stage 4 EBV must be exhausting.  I wish you a speedy recovery.  Sending healing thoughts your way. x

and yes do take care Maree, ongoing illness is so debilitating.  Living through COVID times with an endocrinological disorder that has associated heart and lung complications, plus immuno compromisation and a bone condition as well has been pretty tough, so i feel the pain there.

Yes, take good care of yourself Maree. I've had shingles more than once, and still have ongoing complications from it, as well as EBV that took years to recover from. The most important thing for both those illnesses is to listen to your body when it tells you to rest. Both can be extremely frustrating.

Lisa - the Nashville Chicken is really tasty but definitely has a bit of a kick to it, if you're not good with spicy it might be a bit much :)  it's definitely not a 'sweet chili' level of spice, much hotter and mouth tinglier, but not inedible if you're okay with a bit of heat and spice. It hangs on quite a lot and wasn't really tempered by the addition of avocado and sour cream.

I do really like it but I think it's one you'd struggle a bit with.

Lol I can't handle any level of spice! Definitely don't think I will be buying that. Thanks for the heads up :-)

Aww thank you ladies. I'll try and drop the lollies for tea Shaz x
But get this, all through covid I've been saying to people that the energy is weird and "it's like waiting for the other shoe to drop". So tonight my friend came for tea and I was telling her about the shingles. She said what does Louise Hay say about shingles? so i looked it up and guess what she said? "waiting for the other shoe to drop!" hells bells - words become your physical reality just.like.that.So I have her balancing affirmation open to repeat. It doesn't seem like a negative statement does it? [waiting for the other shoe to drop] but clearly the universal energy perceives it as a fear statement. That'll teach me!

Further to that, Louise Hay says about EBV "pushing beyond one's limits" - as in working too much in my case, and fear of not being good enough, um yes, and stress virus -ah as in working too much in my case...I guess it all speaks for itself ....she is amazing!!! and I intend to work less.

I totally hear you Sooz and Silvene. My first shingles attack was when I was 8 yrs old. And my Graves Disease arose from EBV 8 years ago, preceeded by Hashimotos Disease in my 20s. They are the gift that keeps on giving :(
