@Maree, it's the same up here (on the Hibiscus Coast). Our local Countdown has had various empty shelves for weeks, not much meat selection, and limited fruit and veg. I chatted with one of the staff members and apparently its due to freight issues and problems with getting things that are imported - everything is taking longer so they're not getting their supplies in as regularly as they normally would.
It really surprised me to find out that most of the locally grown fruit, veg, meat and other goods are exported because it can be sold at a higher price overseas, and then we end up having to pay for the same items in our supermarkets that have been imported from elsewhere!

Silvene, that's long been the case that all our good stuff goes overseas. My uncle was a boss at the freezing works back in the 70s/80s so he used to get export quality meat. It was completely different from what you could buy in shops here. I've also seen things like New Zealand chocolate and cheese for sale in Japan and Hong Kong cheaper than it is here.
Just seems to be the usual toilet paper and cat food shortages around here. I've kinda got used to not seeing fully stocked shelves now. Seems to be another thing of the past.

Shops are stocked here for the most part. Funny you say theres staff strikes lisa there were several "new" staff members in countdown today which threw me off! All wearing black shirts that were not countdown uniforms lol
Ive not seen toilet paper (purex at least) on sale in months, since october maybe, and they upped the price by a couple dollars. Its bothering me. All the prices are rising! Yet the wage aint! Or at least, mr shazs aint haha

I think you should , Lisa! Shaz wasn't going to get it either lol.
Well, I finally received all my parcels that I was expecting from December. Just waiting on a coffee table now but only ordered that a couple of days ago.
I haven't even seen the Kleenex toilet paper I like for months! Things I make sure I always have back ups of now: toilet paper, coffee, cat food, oats lol. Of course skincare and tea has been back uped pre-covid and I have enough to last several pandemics lol.
