?Scalp dryness can be cured with regular use of extra-virgin olive oil, an effective natural moisturizer. Heat some extra virgin olive oil until it is slightly warm. Massage it onto your scalp and then wrap your hair in a warm towel. Leave it on for at least 45 minutes or overnight and then shampoo and condition your hair. Repeat this remedy a few times a week.

I haven't tried olive oil yet. My hair is so dry.. I shampoo at least twice a week.. straighten once.. Definately an affordable option for me to try. Thank you for sharing x

It's important to know whether your flaking is dandruff or dry scalp because treatment is very different. For years I thought I had dandruff and made my scalp much worse treating it wrong.

I prefer to use coconut oil on my scalp I find it "dissolves" the flakes better. I add a couple of drops of tea tree if I really need to have a clear scalp but don't think it's suitable for frequent use.

How can you tell the difference between dandruff and dry scalp? I often think that I more have dead skin just sitting on my scalp but it's not dry and not flaking off either. My roots tend to get oily daily too, probably because my hair is so fine.
