The Secret To Beautiful Skin

Hey Ladies,

I am currently on a search to find the secret to beautiful skin and would love to know what secrets and woes you have.
I'm 20 years old and my skin has far more problems than it should.
1. My thighs and hips have what I want to call stretch marks, but don't think they are becuase the skin has never stretched.
2. My skin comes away from my nail and my nails split (only a few times a year thank goodness)
3. From time to time I get a bunch of what look like sandfly bites but I haven't been near sandflies. They just come and go with no change or cure (I don't get this very often much to my relief - however it is fun seeing the doctors get confused when you show it to them :p)
4. And the most annoying.... skin on my feet that rubs no matter what the shoe. I can even pinpoint what day it started it was that sudden. It is the biggest mystery ever as to what has gone wrong.

So there are all my woes. Share any of them? Know a way to solve them? Or have your own mysteries to share?

I am lucky in that I have never had problem skin (genetics plays a role here I think), but I also look after my skin. I drink water constantly, I moisturise and I always remove my makeup.

If you have ongoing skin issues ask your GP for a referral to a dermatologist.

Regarding the 'maybe' stretch marks, they might be stretch marks even if you don't feel there is a reason for them. Despite the common perception that stretch marks are the domain of pregnant women only, they are actually so common for women (and men) of different ages for different reasons. Many young women get stretch marks at puberty simply as a result of the growth spurt. The thighs, hips, and even chest are common areas for this. I don't know if there is anyway to fade stretch marks that really works, but I hope it helps you to know that they are really common - I've got them on my thighs and hips also and I just think 'Oh well!'

Hey itsclearacrystal, The skin around the finger nails problem any cuticle oil should fix it, I used to get that too it can be really sore I use the one by manicare you can get for around $10 from the pharmacy does the job.

I think most people/ a lot of people get growth scars, most boyfriends i've had have actually had them more severe than me it's more comman than you might think. It can be just from general growing and changing of the body not necessarily due to weight gain and/or loss. This kind of scarring it's unlikely you will ever be able to make disappear completely, sorry but I know i've been working on it for the past 10 years still not giving up. You can definately reduce the appearence of the scars so that they are not so obvious, blend with surrounding skin and aren't shiny and catching the light. I think what has worked best for me is (best if these things are in pure form/ natural) is rosehip oil, vitamin E, Retinol A, aloe vera, coccoa butter, jojoba & use microdermabrasion cream/crystals (mix with your own creams) & derma needle roller. Hope this helps :)

Hi there, interesting thread. Id love to know what beauty tips there are out there for beautiful skin. Ive never tried Microdemabrasion of laser treatments before. Have thought of going down that route. I have scarring and spots that I would love to have removed. As for the stretch marks or cellulite dimples. Something that I have myself. I have not yet tried anything other than coffee scrubs and bio oil. Didnt work for me. Have seen talk of a snail gel cream being used and bee veenom for anti ageing. Need to do more research.

Apparently you can get stretch marks from growth spurts. I wish I had known while I was growing up and slack with buying a body moisturizer since I had a tiny allowance and that all got spent almost entirely on cheap makeup.

I read that too about growth spurts being behind stretchmarks, my body is covered in stretch marks from when I was going through puberty, I wish I had known and I wouldve been applying cocoa butter everywhere daily

Hey if your body skin is having stretch marks and you want to get rid of those marks then start massaging with cellublue now. It is the best soins cellulite in form of small suction cup used for massaging the particular part where the skin tissues are loose. Usually massaging is best option for skin tissues and now this will going to help to get rid of those stretch marks. Go thought it once. It will effectively will help you.

Stretch marks are common on a lot of people, you can only minimise the look of them and they do fade over time but it is scarring so it will never go away completely unless you get them surgically removed. Cellulite is relatively forever too, scrub, moisturise, massage, repeat will help make it look better.
With your nails, do you have a fungal infection in the nail bed itself? If it is one or two nails this could be the cause but if it is all nails, is it any particular time of year, or have you used some specific products before this happens?
The sandfly bitten looking skin - are they itchy? Do you have any allergies/sensitivities for your skin? have you had an allergy test? They could just be inflamed hair folicles but if it is an allergy you might need to avoid some products.
The feet issue, if it was one pair of shoes I would say don't wear them but as it sounds like it is all shoes, is that correct.
I would suggest paying for a skin doctor, but get your normal doctor to do all blood/allergy tests to rule some things out in advance.

Hello everyone :) so I have slowly been working my way through your suggestions. I am currently trying rosehip oil on both the stretch marks an the skin around my nails. Next I'm thinking I might look into microdembrasion since there has been a lot of talk around that recently.

In reply to have I seen a doctor/skin doctor. I have seen more than I can count and not with much success, so I am now working my way through the more natural remedies.
