I have come across an awesome hairstyle, but to do it I need to have my fingers way too close to my straighteners. Anyone got some techniques or maybe a type of glove to recommend?

Are you not able to hold onto the plastic bit?
There are gloves you can get. I have a Jose ebre curler and it came with a heat proof glove. Maybe try a haircare shop to see if they have them or able to score one for you

I get burned hands all the time. I could do with a heat proof glove too.

Unfortunately the plastic is just too hot.

GHD have a heat resistant glove on their website for $11 - That could be an option. Any hairdresser or outlet that stocks GHD could certainly get you one. Or it looks like you can order from their website.
